Decent enough price although I've read it's quite short. I can't decide whether to get this or pick up Rayman tbh:o

I was in Game in Cork today and they've advertised that it will be €25! Naturally I pounced on a display case , but when I brought it to the cashier , she said it hadn't been delivered yet. Hopefully the cheap price will last till tommorow.

the offer in game is 25 if you trade in any other wii game, other than wiisports, i believe

Smyths lovinly txt me this mornin to say it was in stock. popped in and got it for 45 yoyo. Not too bad at all. Fun game. The missus loved it on the DS so its more for her than me. Still ill get a couple of hours outta it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,561 ✭✭✭Rhyme

Picked it up in Smyth's this morning and i have to say, ive not enjoyed a game this much in a long, long time. Played a tag-team going through the main game with a friend and we were laughing the whole time (especially with the 'pick up the phone' games). Definitely worth the €45 i paid for it, i would have paid €60 for this kind of fun.

Ack, Gamestop Drogheda didn't have it in today. Will get it in Dublin tomorrow. Does anyone know if you can trade in Wii Play (minus a free wiimote) for it?

The "not to be sold seperately" writing on the front of Wii play would suggest not, worth a shot though:P

Can anyone tell me whether this is worth getting? I read a review of it online and it said the game was fairly shallow. But I'd prefer to hear people sayin its great fun and worth the buy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

The best thing going for it is the wonderfully clever use of the nunchuck in multiplayer.

most notable being bungie pals (which is equally funny as it is exhausting)

I was originally worried that I wouldnt get much out of it because I only have one wiimote...but all the multiplayer is designed around the notion of having just one which is great.

I remember one of the complaints of the new warioware's (dont know by who) was that logic of the ds and wiimote made the minigames less frantic and unpredictable. But I can safely say that it isnt so. I was completing some minigames by waving the wiimote in a panic...while others even when you've got them figured require alot of timing.

Overall a quality partygame...and 1 of 2 I wanted (the other is Rayman raving rabbids) after them 2 my party demands will be satisfied and I can focus on the more content driven games (Zelda, gamecube titles and the upcoming selection of metroid etc.)

Honestly unlike most others I'm kinda glad for the dispersed release line up...I cant afford to buy all the titles...I cant even afford to buy a 2nd game yet have to wait till february. And even then it has to compete with DS titles which are by far the strongest on any platform (and cheaper), and the final salvos from the PS2 with quality like Okami on the way.

Got it this afternoon and it is everything that I expected it to be (which is great considering the hours of fun that Touched provided me...)
I've just finished the 9V and 16V stage (gotta love that boss battle:D), and damn near wet my pants during the "feline fever" stage:p
top notch stuff, but i'd say I almost have it clocked already after a couple of hours play...
Looking forward to trying multiplayer next
thanks again for the heads up, OP. it's nice to see bricks and mortar prices beating online prices of a new game for once...

All the games require you to keep the Wiimote pointed at the screen at (basically) all times... i found myself failing because i was pointed elsewhere (especially with the 'tug of war' grip).

I love it! Was playing it for like 4 hours last night. It's cool the way you go back to each character for more complicated stuff after you've completed the level once. The 9v and 16v was so cool! Loved the games there. And the one with the paper plane that you have to move to avoid the tree. Def. a must have. I've played that and Rayman and love both so I would recommend both rather than just one or the other.

I was never the kind of person to buy titles on the day they're out but the DS and Wii have really changed me! Stupid people making me want to spend all this money that I don't have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭Luluk

Finally got it tonight and it's a great laugh. You have to be on the ball, though, because it's very fast. I think I finished a few games without even realising I'd started playing yet. But some of them are hilarious. The difficulty ranges from dead easy to dead hard (that balancing blocks game is impossible, imo!). I agree with LadyLotts that people should buy this as well as Rayman. They're both terrific, fun games. I'm loving my Wii right now :D

I am sorry if this is a dumb question but can someone please help me out
Got it ths afternnon and played for an hour or so on my own but can't figure out how to get out of single player mode.
Do I have to work through the entire game before I can choose 2 players?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,705 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Yeah - i can't work this out either.... Isn't it just a 1 player game?

In the bottom right of the screen is a little train, click on it, get on it and it takes you back to the main screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,135 ✭✭✭fifth

It's brilliant isn't it. Just as much fun as the DS version, I bought it the second it came into work, traded in that Zelda game (found it utter tripe! :P ) and got wario for €24.

Think you have to complete single player before the option becomes available (that should only take 2-3 hours at the very most anyway:p )

Less if you don't forget to keep the Wiimote pointed at the screen at all times... that mistake added about an hour or so onto my game time.

In the 'multiplayer' section you have to play the available games to unlock more and so on... i found one of the best multiplayer games is the 'Mix it up' elephant thing in one player, seeing who goes for the longest raised some of the best laughs.

Gamespot gave this game a 9.1 and the review is quite good. If you liked the DS version, it seems this game will be perfect for you.

Frantic, random, madness with insane artistic style.

The game is a series of micro games for people who've never seen a Wario game which are smaller than mini-games and generally last about 5-10 seconds each. It has hundreds of them to make up for the shortness of each and you have a time limit to complete them in. They are completely off the wall.

you have to complete the story of the first 10 characters before multiplayer unlocks.

the bungie budies game is great craic.

one person holds the wii mote at his hip...the other holds the nunchuck at his hip and you watch two characters running on the screen and you have to jump to make them jump obstacles it gets bloody hectic. Also its funny because of the opening (when they explain the game)

    I LIKE CAKE!

The mini-wario boss stage (dancing!) is hilarious...... just make sure you close the curtains first. :)

Great game... well worth €45. Just need to unlock the last minigame and 3 more elephant towers now....

Best game for the wii i've got so far...

I've gotta pick up Rayman too!

The dancing in Wario is brill! I was bouncing around the living room. Can't wait to get a proper dance game now. It'd rule if it was a mix of the Rayman drumming game and dancing and other musical stuff. Ya hear me Nintendo?

I was too tuckered out after playing through the rest of the game, and didn't want to get off the couch to complete it... took me bloody ages to finish it sitting down:p

Theres a trick to the dancing game... one that makes it a lot easier (but it ruins the challenge)

Of course there isn't, you have to dance just like they do on screen!!

Next you'll be saying you don't have to flap both your arms in the flying game.

    :)

I flap anyway. But the 'trick' makes it a doddle,
when the lead changes their move you can stand still until your turn to slap ass etc...
It saved me some trouble when unlocking the last few games.

Jesus, that reminds me... ive not done a Wii Sports Fitness test in weeks.

    Hey everyone,
Looking for a bit of advice??
Got my wii in December and have had great fun with Sports, Play, Zelda and a few others. Had a browse on the net and thought Rayman looked good so I went to the shops and bought it. Unfortunately when I brought it home and had a go, I realised I couldnt play it!! You see I'm in a wheelchair and I just wasnt physically able to play Rayman. I'm fine with Sports and Play; may not be able to bounce around the room like other but have great fun with these games!!
Anyway to cut a long story short, I was wondering is Warioware very similar to Rayman? I've looked at all the reviews but unfortuately they dont come with a wheelchair compatibility section!!!
    Any advice would be welcome.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Hey Rachc, what difficulties were ya having with Rayman? I thought they should all be playable while in your wheelchair, as I usually play sitting on a chair or in my bed.

There are some of the WarioWare games you would have difficulty with, but you could always "cheat" on them. There are ones where you're supposed to "squat" "hula" and "jump", and you could still make the same kind of movements with the Wii controller, but I'd imagine that it'd be kinda annoying having to do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 rachc

    Hey Damo,
I think the problem with Rayman was the speed that you had to do things at i.e. where he has to run along the beach with the bomb and also I wasnt really able for swinging the remote above my head at speed i.e. where he throws the cow. Basically I couldnt do any of the games on Rayman!!

As you mentioned, I was hoping I could cheat through some of the games in Warioware as they dont look impossible! Its just that I dont want to fork out 60euro for a game I can do nothing with!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Ah yeah, Rayman can be pretty intensive on the arm movements at times. As for that cow one, if you just give the remote a kinda twirling action, it doesn't have to be above your head, it does the same thing. (I've only done it over my head once!)

I'd offer to lend you my WarioWare to try it out, but I left it up at home in Donegal for my younger siblings to play.

    I'd be cautious with warioware.

while most of the minigames are indeed possible sitting down, there is one stance that isnt very compatible.

the game works with each minigame requiring a stance, most are fine to play ysitting down.

the remote stance, handle bars stance and umbrella stance are all done with your hands and for the most require little else of your body (and if they do they can be tricked easily).

the catchy one is the big cheese stance which requires you put the wii to your hip and it registers the movement of your hip...it can be tricked but its an off and on affair and your more likely to mess it up.

the other risky one is the mohawk which you put the wii on your head and it registers you ducking or jumping or similer movements...this is easier to trick but again there might be problems.

the only one I can think of that defitnally will present alot of problems is the dancing boss stage, which is very hard to trick and resulted in me having to have my friend count the rhythm so I could dance in time (yes it does punish you if your moving out of sync with others.)

The positive is that each minigame in wario lasts for less then 10 seconds (except boss battles which are about a minute at most.)

So i'm guessing about 80% of the game will be easily playable for you, the remaining 20% will need to be tricked and most are easy to trick some are quite hard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

TBH I think the dancing one would still be easy enough, and I found it easy so long as you have a sense of rhythm, as its basically just moving your arms to copy the others on the screen, no other movement nessecary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

dont know about that...the bit where you gotta march with the others it kept catching me out because I was sitting while doing it..had to stand up to complete it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

I did it all sitting, with no problems... passed it second time (First time I had no idea what was going on! :D)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

you gotta tell me how, cause I tried doing it sitting and couldnt complete it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Just kept my arm bent at the elbow, gave me plenty room for doing the motion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 rachc

    Hey,
Thanks for the advice. Havent bought the game yet, not sure what to do!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Well I would lend you mine to give it a try, but it's in Donegal with my lil sister. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 rachc

Thanks for the offer Damo but I've had an idea. I got Call of Duty for Xmas and I've played it once. Just dont like it and find the controls very difficult. I thought it was the wheelchair thing again but I've read a few message boards and nobody seems to like it that much!! So I'm gonna see can I trade in COD for Warioware, I think Gamestop might be doing deals like this.
