Lunch. Tuna Salad, Mars Bar, 1/2 litre squash.
Snack. Frusli Bar or Youghurt, Some Juice.
Dinner. Pasta and sauce with peppers and tomatoes, Yoghurt and some water.

    Gym

The reason i am doing this is because i am looking to get fit for motorcycle racing.

it's not bad. but not great,
I'd drop the cereal bars and replace them with nuts (I like almonds, brazils and pisatios(?).
Lose the juice (unless you pressed it yourself) and eat more fruit.

I'm not qualified to lecture on diets but mine ('m trying to lose body fat at the moment) on tuesday was. the rest for the week was similar except on friday night where threw in a rake of pints.

    tues
    7am - 3 weetabix + slimline milk, 1/4 fresh pineapple + protein shake
    10am = kiwi + banana
12.30 = tuna + cheese sandwich (bread is sunflower and rye) + 3 handfuls of pisatios
    3.30 - apple + protein shake
7pm - chicken breast + veg, handful of grapes
10 - 1/2 tub of cottage cheese (low fat)

It's not great to be honest. There's a lot of processed foods here, and a lot of sugars. You seem to have been tricked into believing that cereal bars are healthy. they're not perticularly so. Try to get your Carbs from wholegrain, un-processed food. Ditch the juice, the cereal/frusli bars, the Mars bar (for obvious reasons). If you've made the tuna salad yourself, without mayo, it's probably ok; if not, it probably isn't. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of protein in the diet either, man. Maybe replace the cereal bars with some whey?? And I would advise anyone to ditch kellogs and go for Oats and water aka Porridge!!

Oh, and there's no harm in going for the large water ;)

    Hey blahblah,
Your diet is terrible mate. And that's as nice as i can be about it.

Brekki. Fruit n Fibre, Glass OJ and toast.
Lose all of this. Go for porridge. Two egg whites, and water.

snack. Banana, Cereal Bar, Small bottle of water.
Lose all of these too. While fruit, bananas aren't that healthy. Go for more fibrous fruits, such as apples or oranges. Try a salad from the deli counter and plenty of water.

Lunch. Tuna Salad, Mars Bar, 1/2 litre squash.
Lose it all. Tuna salad is full of mayo, go for a plain chicken salad with some olive oil. It's not the amount of fat, it's the type. Avoid saturated fats. Again skip the juice and go for water.

Snack. Frusli Bar or Youghurt, Some Juice.
If it was one of those activia yoghurts I'd say ok otherwise, bin it. Skip the bar. More water.

Dinner. Pasta and sauce with peppers and tomatoes, Yoghurt and some water.
NO pasta. Ever. Get your carbs from fresh/raw fruit and veg and you'll feel fantastic in a matter of weeks. Add some lean meat, grilled or roasted (not fried). Some low fat sauce for the fats and your set.

    Hope this helps bro.

I should also point out that my disdain for juice is quite controversial and not a lot of people agree with me. If you find plain water too much to take at every meal, try some of that flavoured water, doing the rounds at the mo.

    Hey blah,
If you want to build serious strength, you should be on a much higher protein intake and hit the olympic lifts combined with the big three.

I've never done motorbike racing but I'm imagining that lots of heavy rows would be a great help.

A bit much there. he aint gonna jump staright form one lifestyle to another or he'll fail.
as a non-sporty/ health conscious person his diet is not bad. I've seen bad diets.
If he is serious about thing then it needs improvement - no questions.

Sorry about that. I didn't mean it in a mean way. From his opening statement I inferred that he was competing in motorcycle events. I took it to mean he was a serious athlete to begin with. Sorry again blah.

dont be silly hammer. I do compete but I eat chinese and takeaways and im feeling it hard work on the track hence the change in lifestyle. the chap said to me the diet is more so for endurance then weight loss. does that make sense?

There's a few misconceptions about certain foods for sports, such as Footballers filling up on Pasta and Marathon runners eating Mars Bars. The reality is much different for you and me. These people eat this food because on a daily basis they are burning thousands of calories, maybe five thousand or more. They need to stock up on foods that will prevent their bodies from wasting. We, on the other hand, do not have this issue.
I don't know exactly who gave you this advice, but they probably know more about you than we do. However, you are still not eating enough unprcessed grains and your protein intake is a little on the low side.

    Hey blah,
I know what you mean but i don't think that's what you got. For endurance you should be eating plenty of fibrous fruit and veg. The rawer the better. Plus protein from whole food sources if possible. Also dont forget the fats. Fats aren't bad, just the wrong type of fats (trans fatty acids).

At the end of the day, good diet is good diet. Good diet supports muscle mass, promotes fat loss and encourages long slow release of energy. On that note, try looking at a book called the zone, by Barry Sears. It's great.
