Creatine & Supplements on Rest / Off days

    Hi Guys!
(my first post on this board :p:)

I am wondering what is best way to take supplements on "off" or "rest" days?

I would usually work out 2-3 times a week.

I have been using USN 100% Whey Protein shakes since September. Usually I would take it shortly after a workout and again the next morning (twice a day if I worked out).

The days I wasnt working out I would usually take one serving of Whey Protein in the morning.

Just this week I have started a new weights program and am taking (and testing) Creatine Monohydrate.
Already I have seen major results because my muscles feel leaner and bigger.

As of this week (and this week only) I am taking Creatine every morning as well as an hour before the gym. I am taking a serving immediately after the gym and a little while after I am taking the USN Whey Protein.

As of next week I am cutting down my Creatine intake to once a day when I am not working out. Ie I will take a serving of Creatine in the morning when I dont plan to have a work out.

The days I will be working out I plan to take a serving before and after a workout and also take a serving of Whey Protein after a workout.

So in all I will be taking one serving of Creatine on rest days and two servings on days I will work out. I am also taking Whey Protein after workouts.

Does the the above schedule make sense? Is it ok to take Creatine on rest days? Should I take protein too? Will I be taking too much Creatine on days I do work out?

    Any advice is much appreciated!

    Cheers

Take the protein every day as your body needs it to build and maintain muscles.Creatine you should only take on training days, there's really no need to take it when you're not working out as it the extra wont be used and will be excreted. There is a school of thought that says taking creatine every day and for too long willprevent you from growing any bigger as your body adopts to its prescence in the muscle and you no longer see any gains.

I have heard what Degsy said and also the opposite!, I heard that creatine is sort of slow to absorb, but is best absorbed after a workout (like most nutrients), but that on off days you take it to top yourself up, but they were saying that you do not get a creatine "hit" like you could with e.g. glucose.

Most I have read says protein is most important immediately after a workout.

I take creatine everyday, one teaspoon, and after workouts on my on days I take and extra spoon. I have a small bit of protein 40mins before a workout, then some towards the end of it, and then a big shake after. I also have it on off days, I love the taste of it thats why I really take it on off days!
