cheapest I have found is www.bulkpowders.co.uk
they do a 48hr courier service, I think it was £11 but that was up to about 25kilos! so it really pays to get a lot, perhaps go splits with a mate.

My thoughts exactly! I don't understand anyone buying from england when the exchange rate is so poor.
What are you looking for mate? If I have it here in the shop I can send it down to you.

until you get hit at customs.... ow. That can be a real pain the ass, they're very tight on powders coming in from America now and they make sure you pay your excise too.

Not that strange, a few places seem to do this. They are buying direct from the protein producers, I imagine there are not that many producers of protein and even less of creatine, so most many brands would have the exact same stuff. They are simply cutting out the middleman. I saw them recommended on a good few uk forums.

Some may prefer if it was labelled "mega lean 2000 pro ultra express", the lack of such a name doesnt bother me much. I know nothing about most companys whose products I buy.

Please let me know if you find cheaper. These were by FAR the cheapest I found. I got 20kg of 80% whey protein and 2kg of creatine for €205 delivered. I think this was a good 20% cheaper than any other sites I found.

The reason its cheap is because its Whey Concentrate alone. All the top companies will mix concentrate with Isolate for better results and absorbtion.
But as a matter of interest what type of gains have you made on concentrate alone?

    hi jon,

is this for the 6lb tubs? If so this is very good value

i've been using Pro x protein and have found it very good, great tasting and great gains. Whats the difference between Pro X original and Big Whey Pro X

    Thanks,
    p

Ah makes sense now. I saw they sold the isolate aswell for a lot more. Maybe I could buy some of that and blend my own. Do you know what sort of ratios are recommended?

I have not kept real track of any gains. I am doing it more to loose weight/fat than anything less, since I have pretty much always been taking some sort of protein it is hard for me to guage. That with the fact I am normally on a caloire defecit it is hard to tell too since I know I should not be expected to gain a lot when not eating a lot. Weighed this morning I am about 165lb with I reckon 14% BF, 5' 11", been lifting for about 10months. I am not that strict on my workouts either.

Your prices are very good esp. for a normal irish shop, especially if you are buying smaller amounts to try it out for taste etc. before buying lots.

Yep its the 6lb tubs. Big Whey is just ProX in a bigger tub!

I don't think its as easy as that to be honest. PM Trollybus he's on the manufacturing end of most of Europes Protein powders. If you can't get him I'll ask him for you. Just let me know.

Its down to being reasonable IMO, lads come in here they can sit down and have a chat about the stuff and they get good deals - that way they come back to you. I can name one other shop on the northside that makes average 40 to 50% mark up on products and says they're doing you a favour at that price. This is what happens when a business man runs it and not someone who uses supps and trains like the rest us!
Also im a big supporter of the NutritionX mission statement - 'by athletes, for athletes'

Yeah found that too. Don't know if you guys know about "google suggest" you start typing and it "guesses" what you are about to ask and suggests things , very good site.
seems there are a fair few articles on whey isolate vs concentrate

    http://www.google.com/search?complete=1&hl=en&q=whey+isolate+vs+concentrate

    http://www.leehayward.com/whey_protein_isolate.htm

Seems the isolate is better but on a price difference level I would imagine the concentrate is more economical, even if the "available" protein was a good bit lower than the isolate it is cheaper so you could simply eat more. i.e. to get say 100g of protein "in your system" it is probably cheaper to use concentrate, though you are taking more fat on too and probably missing out on some other substances.

Probably similar to the other creatines available, some are absorbed or work better but are far more expensive.

I think the cheap stuff will do me for the time being I am going to get the casein too, I hear Tony Quinn is the cheapest for that ;)

You can get it in just bags at bulk powders for even less. I got it in big 5kg tubs. I have other uses for these tubs (brewing beer etc) they are very sturdy foodgrade PP5 (withstands boiling) tubs, the lids lock on very firmly and they have handles like a regular bucket, they look about 15-20litre capacity. I have seen similar empty tubs like these for €30!

Yeah,i agree with ya about the cheap stuf.Whey isnt a miracle anabolic steroid, iits a protein supplement to be used as part of a proper high-protein diet.A 5% difference in quality between concentrate and isolate isnt going to make any difference worth talking about if the rest of the diet is up to scratch.
