New to Dublin - advice on gym membership

Hi All! I'm going to be moving to Dublin in about a week (study abroad) and I'm living in the Dundrum area. I've never been to Dublin before so I don't have a clue where anything is or how to get there. (So, I want apologize from the start because I know there is a post at the very beginning for gym reviews.) I've been searching online for gyms in the dundrum area and the only one that keeps poping up is....dundrum gym (of course:). Anyways, I was set on getting a membership there when I arrived but then I saw something that said it was closed. Are there any other gyms close to the Dundrum area that offer reasonable memberships??? And that are close to a LUAS stop?? thanks so much for any info!! I can't wait to see Dublin!
    Izzy

    Hi Izzy,
Theres one in Stillorgan called Benildus Health & Fitness Club http://benildushfc.com/index.php which is on Upper Kilmacud Road (theres a map on the site). Dont know how much the membership is though, you may have to ring for more info.

You've also got Westwood in Leopardstown racecourse, which is realistically about a twenty-five minute walk from the Luas terminus in Sandyford.

If you come in by the Luas for 5 mins there's one near Milltown -- L.A. Fitness (Dartry).

Check out Friarsland in Clonskeagh. I find it better the Benildus as it has a pool. The place looks a little outdated but the equipment is good and you never have to wait for anything. Only link I could find about the place is below

If you live close to the Luas line then you could find it'll save you time to find somewhere that may be geographically farther away, but will actually take less time to get to...

Case in point; There's a new gym opening up in Camden St. , about three minutes from the Harcourt St. Luas stop (just cut through the lane that connects the two streets) in a week or so, that promises to be very well equipped and good value too.

Keep your eye on the forum for updates, I'm sure it'll be mentioned when it opens.

The Fitness Dock is on Camden Street.

Get the Luas to the Harcourt stop and we're just around the corner.

    Our website is www.thefitnessdock.ie

All members of boards.ie are entitled to a FREE 3-day trial. Just ask for me when you come into the gym and I'll sort it out for you.

    Cheers,

The gym JayRoc's talking about is called pinnacle. If you go down the lane beside coppers on Harcourt street it's on the left hand side.
