I am actually interested in knowing what films people have walk out on. I wouldn't post other wise. I don't remember raising the other thread, but that thread reminded me of it.

The only movie that I have ever walk out on is The Descent, a totally **** movie.

    Anyone else? :)

Good Will Hunting.. Only film I've ever walked out of. I sincerely couldn't find any reason to stay in that cinema

almost walked out of the prestige, but that was cause the film seemed to be bouncing up and down slightly, crappy cinema

A film would have to pretty bad for me to walk out on it.

The only film I've come close to walking out of was The Green Mile... granted I only nipped out for a smoke and came back, but there's something about scenes of graphic electric chair executions that I'm squeamish about, even when I know they're fake... I can't help thinking that the bodily effects seen in the film are based closely on real data and/or real events.
I think no matter how much someone deserves to be killed for their crime, the electric chair is a pretty fúcked up way of doing it... and the whole ceremony surrounding it, sickening.
I know only one other person who found that film as rotten as I did... which I find weird.

I'm sure I have mentioned this before but closest I came to walking out was watching that tripe, The Life Aquatic.

Ive never walked out of the cinema while watching a film, however I was seriously tempted during Miami Vice. The sound of 200 people fidgeting in a a cinema truly is one to behold.

oops: missed the big old thread

This is by far the funniest comment I've read on Boards in 2006 :D The movie was tripe alright! Never walked out on a movie, but I fell asleep in two. "In the Line of Fire", and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", although I was 12 when I went to see DRS, say it recently and Rupret the Monkey Boy had me in stiches.

    The Green Mile. Why bother?

It's funny how opinions differ though - there's a few people here that have walked out on stuff that I was thoroughly entertained by.

And The Fantasic Four. I still can't believe they're making a sequel.

You need to read the book by stephen king. I don't think it was supposed to be overlly about the graphicness of the electric chair scenes.

The idea was that you get what is coming to you, I don't think the film delt with this aspect very well. In the book you finish it with a sence of releife that everyone got what was coming to them and that the main character to be executed wanted his execution because he could understand the gift he was given.

I think you where supposed to find "the electric chair is a pretty fúcked up way of doing it... and the whole ceremony surrounding it, sickening." The film isn't pro-death penalty after all an innocent man is put on the "Green Mile".

Miami Vice honestly the worst movie of 2006 IMO.

you've just met a second person! I will never forget it. I was sitting at the end of a row against the wall and I felt truly trapped in the cinema. It was AWFUL! The bit where the sponge wasn't wet in particular...Jesus Christ! I couldn't walk out cos I couldn't move!

Dick Tracey has to be my 'would have walked out' movie but the film drained everything out of me so I wasn't even bothered to walk out. I just examined specks of dust in the projector light - infinitely more entertaining :D

I've been to some crappy movies (actually, i haven't been to many thank God) but I never saw the point in walking out midway. Maybe it's cos I'm a bit of a critic and I have to see the whole thing before I comment on it.

...plus I wouldn't throw away a tenner just cos the movie wasn't great.

American Sweethearts , for the love of god No !!! Couldn't sleep but did get a nice snooze though.

Almost walked out of the start of Van Helsing, the whole black and white frankenstein thing really freaks the bejasus out of me but then all of a sudden kate beckinsale appeared on the screen and i thought i might stay.

Nice to know that people aren't descenitised (sp?) here on boards. Did you like the film other then this part? Honestly read the book :)

    The Fantanstic 4 what ****.

I haven't read the book, probably should. So strong was the impact on me of what I saw in parts that it really affected my opinion of the whole movie. I can't say I enjoyed any of it really. I thought it was tragic! The relief you describe at the end of the book certainly didn't exist so I might just check it out, could be cathartic for me :)

I decided to go for a leisurely dump and stroll around outside a bit during The Ringer, didn't wanna go in the first place but I was there with the girlfriend. Fell asleep in V for Vendetta, repeatedly.

True lies is the only movie i have ever walked out of - true shyte wouldve been a more apropriate title.
I almost walked out of frankenstien( Kenneth Brannagh ) but found it so bad that it was worth sticking around to laugh at it was like a big budget version of Noel's House Party.
I Have fallen asleep during such gems as - The Flintstones,Carry on columbus & dazed & confused but "end of the affair" has to be the worst , at one stage I was in such a deep sleep I was woken by the the audience laughing at my snoring.

I'd give the same answer as Cherie on that one... I'm a big fan of Stephen King (especially after reading the Dark Tower series), I didn't read The Green Mile, but I can't help thinking when it made its transition to a screenplay that the Hollywood marketing gimps wanted to sell it on shock value, because honestly all I can remember of the story is that the big black guy had some powers and a lot of people got fried.

The Deer Hunter. Good movie but way too long and slow moving.
Exorcist II. Nearly pooed in my pants.
EDITed to add: The Wrath of Khan, when Scotty started playing Amazing Grace on his bloody outer space bagpipes.

Yeah V for Vandetta, I fell asleep during that, a total waste of a movie.

never walked out and only fell asleep once and that was Malcolm X, thinking back it probably was not the best viewing for a Friday night late show
surprised at the Superman Returns comments, still to each their own

What actually makes me wanna walk out the most is the amount of selfish muppets who go to the cinema these days.

People texting, taking calls, getting up every two seconds, chatting and whispering ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE MOVIE.

It's the most distracting thing EVER and it just takes away my enjoyment of the whole cinema experience. Sadly, this distracts me so much that it has stopped me from actually going to the pictures. I watch the movies at home instead. :(

Never actually walked out but was close while watching "Big Fish". Man dying and telling his life story. Forgot where I was and said too loud "Would you ever hurry up and ****ing die?" Luckily the cinema was only about a quarter full with people who seemed as interested in it as me. Needless to say, herself has never been allowed to choose the film since

    Million Dollar Hotel!!! Shudder.

I worked in a cinema when Blair Witch came out - guess that doesn't count, as it was free.

"Housesitter" .. I think that's what it was called with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin... what a pile of CACK... it was only cos we tried to get into Lethal Weapon 3 but the bitch wouldn't let us in cos we were only 14.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,705 ✭✭✭ciaran76

Fell asleep through Titanic. I was very tired I must admit. But the film didn't help !

Have never walked out on a movie, but movies that even I have to admit are bad (even though I dont want too )

Buffy The Vampire Slayer - never forget the look on the dad and brother's faces afterwards. There were even threats of violence towards me for suggesting that one

The Libertine - disappointed with this film, kind of expected more

Shark Tale - woeful animated movie - and I love kids films

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,258 ✭✭✭✭Rabies

Never walked out of a movie. Don't see the point after paying E8 for it. Only go to movies I'm really interested in watching, good chance that they will be at least half decent.
I have only fallen asleep through one movie, The Hulk *shudder*

ah I have fallen asleep during loads of movies - doesnt mean they were crap, just that I was wrecked. Favourite moment is with the daughter and I drop off - and start snoring loudly during the movies quiet parts :)
