Anyone know if Sky will have a New Year deal?

Want to get rid of NTL and put in Sky+ (don't need Sky HD)

    Cheers

Possibly, very likely, but don't know yet, not what it might be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,485 ✭✭✭Thrill

Probably the usual couple of months at half price for signing on.

Maybe checking these sites in the new year may prove me wrong.

apparently all new customers from january will get a sky+ box as standard and multiroom will be going down to €5 per month

the half price offers wont be re-appearing according to posts over at digitalspy. sky feel its not worth giving them and are gonna concentrate on the broadband offers and sky plus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

That's UK. There is no Sky broadband here offer. We;'ll see soon what s on offer.
Sky+ may become entry level and Sky concentrating on HD

Yeah, I can see SKy+ becoming entry level for new customers who opt for 2 Premium channels or something of the sort.

They'll not be doing away with the ordinary digiboxes now that they've had all manufacturers make all the boxes identical on the outside, with the horrible blue "Sky" light. Though, I suppose these will still be used in Multiroom situations.

I just want a free hd box :D
( well cheep one will do)

Where did you hear that from? Say more likely it will be £5 €7.50

Even €7.50 would be a big improvement over the €15 charged now. That's if this rumour turns out to be true of course...

There was a promotion on FM104's site regarding a free Sky+ box. Its not a site that I'm on often, but there is a banner ad there on the site (browse around if it doesnt appear at first) , closing date was 31/12/06

they're still running this deal, don't know for how long more though, so we better get on it.

they also said they'd have a new introduce a friend offer, out by the end of this month, so it looks like us existing customers are still screwed, lol. :D

unless you do that whole cancel then re-sign up under a different name, thingy.

I'm an existing customer and rang them on Tuesday the 2nd asking for it and was told no, even made a bit of a stink about it but they would not do it. IMO The longer it goes without a reply the least chance u have of getting it....

I didn't think they would pass the chance of getting a new customer for the sake of 2 Days...

Even if they do a new offer at the end of the Month I will think twice seen as they wouldn't even reply to My order.

If your new you probably have a better chance, but they were pigs on the phone to me so I wouldnt get your hopes up.

Did exactly the same - even talked to supervisor about it, saying it was unfair new customers can still take advantage of this offer online (after the so called expiry date) yet existing customers are being refused point blank over the phone. He wasn't the least bit helpful and said "there's nothing more I can do for you, this offer expired on Dec 31st."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭norbert64

i'm fairly sure the d00d today, said that offer was just for newbies.

mind you, why would they have the existing customers thingy on the webpage then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭redman

    a new customer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 961 ✭✭✭aliveandkicking

So they're just screwing existing customers then. Yer man on the phone told me that he physically couldn't give me the offer even if he wanted to because it was gone off his system after the 31st. Bit of fibbing going on

are we sure that ''get a tv with free sky +'' (xcept you don't really need the tv) deal isn't still running.

some agents might still be doing it?

The deal here https://survey.sky.com/radiopromo/ gives either a free Sky+ box or half price Sky HD box for new customers. It seems existing customers are being refused the same deal over the phone.

Yeah, a lot of their deals are usually aimed at getting new subscribers. They tend to ignore their existing cash source. :/

Mate of mine rings up every year during the summer and threatens to cancel, and normally gets a 3months half price deal to keep him on.

Worked for me as well, said I only have sky for the sports, and as it was summer time, I'd no interest, and If i dropped down a package I'd end up paying for Sky + sub (extra 15)

    its a disgrace

if sky only had some descent competition in the market we wouldnt have this problem

If you can manage to do without cancel sky completely (if they dont offer you something decent to stay with them!!) then ring up in your missus name or your Irish name, just make sure you change the phone number they previously had for you, ie give the area code 017654321 cos apparently the phone number is what Sky use as a key in their database!

I poste dthis in a previous discussion.
Anyway, I was in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre a few days ago and spoke to a girl working in the Sky counter. She said that in 2 weeks she thinks the prices will be slashed for 50%. Forgot to ask her if it is for new or existing customers but I presume it is for existing ones.

Prices of what will be slashed? Subs? Hardware?

Maybe they'll run another HalfPrice sub for 3 months promo for new punters.

Can't see them offering much for existing ones, except maybe a cut price SkyHD box.

Or, maybe slash the multiroom price, which was mentioned here before.

I think they will cutthe price of theHD box by 50% and the multiroom by 50% as well. Do not think that the price of the package will be <

Any update on a new deal, maybe after January 15th ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭RadarControl

My parents just purchased a new television from small independent retailer. He told my parents not to order Sky until January 16th as there was a new Sky + box coming out and the pricing was going to be changed. According to him it sounds like the Sky + box is going to become entry box for new customers and the subscription for it and multiroom are coming down to between €5 and €7.50 a month.
