No sign of mine yet either. Cant track it with the code either which is a bit annoying.

    Last chance tomorrow!

I asked DHL and they said that the code I was given was a German Post Office code so I've contacted the seller to get him to get the DHL number.

Let me know if he gets back to you.

He said that units have begun arriving in France that he sent on Monday...
If he sent by regular post I don't think they'll arrive by tomorrow (which means his Ebay rating is going to get a hammering by me)

Didn't we pay €25 for him to send them airmail?
If it has been sent by normal post there is no way they will get here by tomorrow :(
His eBay feedback wont be good from me either.

I was tempted to buy from ebay but looking at the German DHL site is suggested that airmail packets (as distinct from the 70euro DHL overnight package) would take 2 - 3 days. Add in another day for the seller to package and post the item and a bit of delay due to the Christmas volumes I figured it would be very very tight and not the fault of the seller if it didn't arrive.

Trying to check via www.deutschepost.de but the site is hammered at the moment.

The seller just traced mine, it can only be tracked by phone he didn't say why. It has left Germany and he hopes it will be with me in the next few days.
I am not holding out much hope of getting it before xmas now.

I wasn't saying its the sellers fault if it doesn't get here on time but I would like him to use the postage method that we paid for. He said 2-3 days but I know that Xmas is a crazy time anyway for post anyway.

This was the reply I got

hello david, i have phoned the no. for germany (costs EUR 0,12/minute) on there website to inform why tracking over website doesn't work, they say you can only trace by phone, so i have traced and they answered me that the parcel has left germany and they have a lot to do with many parcel before christmas now, so now we will hope that it comes up to you in the next days, if you have any other questions please mail me, friendly greets preisguenstiges (marcel)

All I can do is hope

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭dts

This was what I found on the DHL website

Note that it is not possible to track parcels sent using Deutsche Post / DHL mail services.

This sums up my wii experiance so far. Why has nothing gone right for me and my wii.

My response -pretty much identical your yours DTS.

It will arrive with An Post, not DHL.
Deutsche Post use DHL in Germany but when it gets here it is handed over to An Post to deliver. I know that is not much good to us but they are delivering parcels right up to Christmas Eve.

What day did you buy yours? Mine was Monday and I had the tracking number Tuesaday evening so mine was posted Tuesday afternoon.
Still two more days of deliveries so someone here might be lucky.

does everyone have unique tracking numbers.....call me suspicious but.....

Good Luck anyway! I suppose worst case scenario it might arrive 27/28/29 Dec still in time for Xmas gaming! Sure every1 would be too busy on Xmas day eating and on Stephens Day recovering from eating :D

I assume we have different tracking numbers, never thought about it.
The seller seems to have good feedback on Ebay so I doubt there is anything wrong.

Yeah we know but we still wouldn't be sure of getting one, especially those of us stuck at work :(
It seems Smyths are still not selling them to anyone that doesn't have a pre-order ,at least the two stores in Cork are not.

If it does come, it might get here tomorrow or sunday and arrive into the depot. You might be able to ring them and see if you can collect it from the depot.
DHL allow this, I don't know if An Post do

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭dts

Sorry about this lads. I feel bad as it was me who put you all on to this seller. I have spoken to him through email and contacted DHL. First I would like to confirm that after talking to DHL I know that the wii exists and is on its way, so would assume we are all ok on that part. I ordered mine on Sunday, he tells me he posted it on Monday. DHL tell me it left Germany on Wednesday and not to worry as they have up to ten days to deliver it!
The seller tells me that the woman in the post office had told him it should get to me before xmas but because of the time of year it wasnt definate.
Now if anpost do take over when it gets to this end then it could still turn up tomorrow.
Again sorry for putting you all on to the guy but we will get them its just when?
Hope you all still have a good Xmas

    DTS

Ah it ain't your fault man. When buying anything off eBay there's no guarantees.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 134 ✭✭Moofy

Don't beat yourself up about it, its not your fault.
We may have got them in time if we had an efficient postal service. There is no parcel delivery today from An Post and there is no way anything can be collected from the depot until Thursday when they open again:mad:
I hope that doesn't ruin anyones christmas :(

The kids opend there pressies this morning and the eldest was over the moon with her DS. I had a nitro driven monster truck and the wife had a selection of wii games and controller and nothing to play them on. That was when I decided to byte the bullet and pay over the odds for a second one rather than wait for the first to arrive. She wanted 400 but we only had 350 in the house so I got it for 350.
    Its made xmas day!!!!!!!!:D

FWIW An Post are cetainly on the move today so at least mail will be further sorted tonight and read for the morning.

The paragons of the industry aren't doing much better - http://www.dhl.ie/publish/ie/en/information/shipping/bulletin/151205.high.html

DHL depots in Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny, Letterkenny, Sligo & Tralee are closed as well. God knows what GLS are doing (assuming they know themselves).

Some good news...as I mentioned before I was tempted by the ebay.de option - they were so much cheaper than ebay.co.uk but I thought it through and figured that unless I paid for DHL Overnight they were unlikely to hit Cork before Christmas once you factor in seller delay and Christmas delay. Luckily afterwards I got the last unit in Gamestop Blackpool. But still I figured it beter to hold my cash and wait rather than pay it out and wait (even Amazon was dodgy re delivery times).

    Just got mine NOW! :D

Gotta open it to make sure it doesn't have a brick inside!

All things considered not bad - only paid €291 + postage....so not totally screwed!
