I just had a sickening thought. When the festive season is over as it soon will be,gyms up and down the country are going to be turned into a form of living hell as hordes of football-shirted imbeciles descend en masse to lose thier christmas flab. This invasion of the bodybuildres will have petered out completely by march but in the meantime i'm dreading it!:D

The january rush has it's benefits. Mainly the higher female population in the gym. At least 1% of which will be hot.

And they're effectively subsidising those who'll use the gym all year. I wonder what percentage of annual revenues gyms make in January?

Although a gaa player myself, I wouldn't imagine it's all that comfortable wearing a jersey while lifting..so I'll agree with you there!

I reckon the term "new years resolution" was coined by a gym owner.

Was in teh gym today. My god, full of kids. How many mothers got their kids gloves, belts and gym memberships for christmas. I had to stop 4 guys, the heaviest who was about 11st from dead lifting today. Yes I said dead lifting. He had 80kg on the bloody bar!!! I was watching him just waiting for his back to snap in two so I had to say it to him.

Can't beat the new year 3 week gang!

At first I thought the best thing about a free college gym was it was free, but there are even better benefits, as you mentioned...
