Just wondering what the total number of penalty points we have between us here on boards... might as well get some fun out of them:mad:

Southbound on the M1 during the Drynan interchange construction. A special speed limit of 80 kph was in place and a Gatso on the hard shoulder surrounded by traffic cones took a pic of me doing 103 kph. :mad:

Speeding on three separate occasions, all of which were financial rather than safety traps. One for 80 on the dual carriageway coming into Cork, with zero traffic; one for 60 at 2am at a crossroads that was given a kneejerk speed limit after a crash; can't remember the last tbh.

It's definitely slowed me down, but I'll pick up again when I get them down to 2 next year. Speed doesn't kill, bad driving kills. (Not trying to start a flame war, just repeating a mantra I believe strongly.)

Got my 2 on the old kilmeeden road out of Waterford, still in a 50 zone but roads looked country, and as such I thought the limit was 80 !
Unmarked car followed be for a bit to see if I did anything else, where he stoped me was 80 and similiar condition road.
In the gardas defence it was raining and I did have poor visibility at the time, and he did say sorry when he gave me the ticket

Added a poll. If anybody has an uneven number (ie 5) just round it up to the next uneven amount

Thats 80 mph then?

fade2che you have to be careful down there, the 50 khp has been extended a long way in the last few years, nearly to the county line.

0 for me. Had a ticket a few years before penalty points came in for doing 48 on a dual carriageway with a 40 limit.

Never got any points when I was working in the UK either. I had lots of close calls though, fupping gatsos everywhere. While I had my old Irish regd car I must have been snapped at least dozen times though.

I got 2 points in Sept'05, hit my licence in Jan'06. I'm out of the country for the next year, so that will keep it clean for a while more.

Usually drive about 5mph above the speed limit unless I'm in a built up area.

But I when I was got my points I was doing 44mph coming in to a small village. I had my foot off the accelerator and let it coast in. Wasn't a sinner around.... apart from the cops. Oh well. I was speeding. Own fault.
