First off, thanks to boru. for the advice over pm...

I'm starting my new lifestyle properly in January as with the holidays and all it's not really a suitable time to start now. However, i have started working out now(just started Muay Thai) and that's coupled with gym sessions also...

The only draw back is my diet, living at home i can't really eat properly all the time, so i'll be doing my own shopping from now on so i'm just looking for advice on what kind of things to pick up, i know the obvious like chicken/fish/oats/fruits/veg etc...

But i'm looking for tips on what are the not so obvious things to pick up when shopping? Plus i do have a very sweet tooth, so any suggestions on the healthy 'sweet' option would be good.:o

    Cheers all.

Well honey tastes sweeter than normal sugar, and nicer IMO, so you can use less to get the same sweetness in stuff like porridge. There is some scale for sweetness, sacharometer or something. Glucose is less sweet thats why you can stick twice the amount of sugar (and hence calories) in lucozade and it doesnt taste sickly sweet. Of course then there are artificial sweetners.

Dunno what peoples opinion is on the nurtitional value of baked beans but they are pretty low in calories and fill you well, a full tin is only about 250kcal
