How many laps in a mile?

Yeah I'm fairly sure four laps is 1600m, which is a mile.

Yes, the inside lane is the 400m lap. Others are longer.

Assuming you are starting and ending at the start/finish line that is. Hence the staggered starts in the 400m athletics, because the outer lanes are slightly longer.

Ye there is a bug on boards that every so often puts the first responce ahead of the actual OP's post.
But ye as already has been said a mile is 4 laps around the inside lane, as all the other lanes are longer, hence for a race like 400m sprint each of the starting blocks is staggered around the first bend of the track
