    Probably get a better response in the Security forum, under the Tech menu.
    Huge list of them here anyway. I use Anti-Vir free edition and it works splendidly. AVG is another popular one among boards members.

    In addition to an AV programme, you may also want to consider free anti-malware/spyware/adware? Names of a few grand and free programmes are:
    1. Ad-Aware SE Personal by Lavasoft
    2. Spyware Blaster
    3. Spybot Search and Destroy
    Oh, you can run all three of these together, as they are compatible, and what one misses, one of the others will probably catch.

    been happy with avg free edition for a long time, doesn't hog too much of the system, unless it doing a scan

    Another Anti-Spyware offering is (was) Ewido, it was bought out by AVG and they now offer it as AVG AS or something. It works in the background free for the first 30 days after which you need to run it manually yourself, always been impressed with it - very thorough.

    I recommend;

    Avast,
    NOD32,
    Kaspersky,
    Panda AV.

    Some of those detect spyware also. Some have the whole security suite.

    If going seperate then for Spyware I would recommend Microsofts Anti Spyware scanner and also the ones mentioned by Blue_Lagoon :)
