Mike Lacey is playing and Tom is away somewhere on family business. So I doubt it. The only update I can give you is that I'm already gone. [So quick in fact that I'm already back in Westport] I found Jacks in the BB only a small raise from the cut off to 250 [blinds 50 /100] I reraise to 800. He calls. Flop comes 3 8 10 all clubs. I have the jack of clubs. I bet 900 he raises to 2k I push all in thinking he's on something like A 10. He goes into the tank and finally calls expecting to be behind with his kings. I think if he didn't have the Kc he may well have folded. - Pat Calaghan [Carigeen] Has also gone. His pocket kings got in ahead but fell to a set of tens.

A good turn out with at least 117 players - Among them Nial O'Callaghan, Hectorjelly, Rounders123 [Doing well having around 20k in chips when I got busted] Stephen McClean, Andy Black, Norwich Fan Rob, Big Dragon, Mike Lacey, Flipper, Dave Masters, Sideshow Bob, Smurf, Mr Pillowtalk, Ollyk1, Chief Brody, Willow, Karlh... etc etc....

I'm beginning to think I should retire with Goli

I dont know but from previous posts she seemed to be connected with carfax in organizing tournaments in Dundalk etc. Also by more recent posts i dont believe that partership exists anymore.

julie here with the darkish curly hair, the cork accent, the pocket 3's, the online entry and the game in the fitz last week (not a dealer though?)

really enjoyed the tournament ..it was the first decent live freezeout I'd played in a while and was very happy to cash....came down friday night and got off to a disastrous start with my car suffering fatal injury (guess where the money going!) about 4am giving me an all too easy excuse to stay on in the fitz til about 9am...then spent the morning sorting the funeral arrangements for the car and ended up 1/2 hour late for tourney with no sleep since thurs....i like to make things difficult for myself or rather I tend to..:)

i'm now at a big disadvantage here guys as I probably have played with most of you at some stage and know you to see- I read boards all the time, rarely post but am familiar with most of the regular posters -but don't know who matches which nickname...so come on then...hair colour, accent, occupation, real names???

I guess I'll have to try make it down for the next boards game so I can match the faces with the names!

Where were you on Saturday Dom? Lazysod. My victory in the last longest bet would have been all the sweeter with the addition of your €100. Smurph had me as the outside bet. Pfft.

    Hi Julie

Well played. I did introduce myself at some point during one of the breaks. You hung in well to make the FT in the end. I finished 6th in this and the buggers flattened the prize structure just after my exit :( anyway, it was a great game and nice to put another face to a name.

With 117 runners, I was surprised 18 got paid to be honest.

Paying 18 was ridiculous. The top 11 should have been paid only - with 11, 10 just getting the money back. You should only ever pay 10% as far as I am concerned - and Mike's idea at the GJP festival that one off the bubble should leave even numbers at each table was a great idea that could have been implemented again.

If you want I can carry that bet over to the Fitz 500 next weekend if you are interested......

I slept in on Saturday :( I woke at around 12ish, and closed my eyes for 2 more seconds, then it was 3pm. How'd that happen?

I was in work from 7am to 1pm. Your excuses are your own.

Its a deal as regards the Fitz next week. I like the idea of €400 entry...

    Hi,
Smurph here, I was talking to you at the break and we had a joke about spliting it 3 ways if the other woman that was playing got to the final table aswell. Well done, good result, next time 1st place maybe. You should come up for the SE €200 game which alot of the boardsies play in. Good structure and loads of play.

Was the car burned out as you had predicted?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭Jools Poker

No the car wasn't burnt out -although given the verdict I got from the garage it would have been a far better outcome Marq!

Well done Piper on finishing 6th -would've loved to have been at the final table for a bit longer but I was just too short stacked and hadda run with the A10.

nice to put a face to the name smurph - had been following your coors light influenced adventures in Drogheda on Antes-up!..very nice result

5starpool you'll have to introduce yourself next time in the fitz....

To be honest lyoyd they were not not far off with there payout structure with 117 runners it should have been as follows

I will always adjust this slightly to round off figures to round sum

    Participants
    101-130 players
    2 Tables
    1st -28.00%
    2nd -17.00%
    3rd -10.50%
    4th -8.25%
    5th -7.10%
    6th -6.00%
    7th -5.00%
    8th -4.10%
    9th -2.80%
    10th -2.25%
    11th-13th -1.60%
    13th -16th -1.40%

They Probably paid 2 too many but with that prizepool it looks rational enough, paying 18 players in atournie there should be at least
131-200 players to give a fair spread of the prizepool
Ps Nice Result in Drogheda Bud

Normal Payout should have been €58500

    This is Actual vs Adjudted

    1st €17950 Rory Rees Brenna--€16500
    2nd €15000 John O'Shea
    €10000
    3rd €8050 Tom Nolan
    €6000
    4th €6000 Michael Frisby
    €5000
    5th €5000 Kieran Walsh
    €4000
    6th €2500 Tim Farrelly
    €3500
    7th €2000 Michael Hoey
    €3000
    8th €1500 Lloyd Farrell
    -€2500
    9th €1000 Julie O'Leary
    --€1800
    10th €500 Bob O'Keeffe
    -€1500
    11th €500 Harold Luberman--- -€1000
    12th €500 Eoghan O'Dea
    €900
    13th €500 Chris Cooke
    €900
    14th €500 Niall O'Callaghan
    €700
    15th €500 Sean McClean
    €700
    16th €500 Ian Ronan
    €500
    17th €500 Fergas Atkinson

Looks like u were done for 1k all the same Llyod sorry for pointing that little point out i agree with u payin 11-18th 500 each is just pointless to be honest ...I have put up the actual vs adjusted payout

Because I hit a one outer with 30 left the balance of poker karma was reset when on the bubble my AQ lost to Mick Hoey's AQs.

More annoying was losing at least three pots to flipper, one of which I played horribly. At least he did have the best hand in all of them, the look on his face when he realised his bluff with Ace high was winning in one was priceless :)

There were some serious luckbox moments in this tournie with myself, Rory (twice) and John O'Shea all getting 2 outers with 2 to come. Seeing three best mates in Rory, John & Eoghan try to outplay each other with no holds barred was most entertaining. Eoghan's exit a tad controversial to Rory.

Also well done to Ian Ronan for cashing after using some of his GJP sponsorship fund for this event. Mine sadly went to waste.

Very well run & structure just about right for a one day affair.

    Cardshark - I thought he'd be bigger?!? :)

anyways, does anyone know the name of the guy sitting to the left of Flipper and the right of me when down to 2 tables? He was the loon who busted TT with AT for a massive pot. I'm just curious where he finished??

Yeah that was Rory, tough one. You were in an unlucky seat, Eoghan had a tough time there also in two pots against Rory.

I enjoyed that table but my fortunes changed when I was moved.

Well done for takingt it down and welcome to Boards. You played some fantastic HLAG (HYPER loose aggressive!!) poker - ya big bully. Same to your mate John who eventually caught me with the boots - another excellent player.

I hope to avoid you guys at a poker table for the forseeable future...

Well done sir on you final table appearance and the side bet win, and I promise I will never have you as an outsider on a 3 way bet. I managed to loose €700 in 20mins in Cash game but hung on the rollercoaster that is the 1,2 pl holdem game in the S E and finish the night after recouping main game entry fee and 100 last longer bet. It was a long day and night playing cards, but thoroughly enjoyable. Made 2 - 3 donkey plays which cost me chips, but the hangover tablets had not kicked in yet.

I believe the Lucky Lloyd will have to be replaced by Legend Lloyd,

hey bops, when were you at my table? I don't remember meeting you.

...maybe it wasn't you? your name is Reggie right??

if so you were short-stacked in seat 9 with Llyod & Big Dragon at the table.
I was to the left of Big D and Raised your BB with AA
I was keeping a low profile for obvious reasons ;) - so there was no formal introduction!!

    good fold btw

Well done sir on you final table appearance and the side bet win, and I promise I will never have you as an outsider on a 3 way bet. I managed to loose €700 in 20mins in Cash game but hung on the rollercoaster that is the 1,2 pl holdem game in the S E and finish the night after recouping main game entry fee and 100 last longer bet. It was a long day and night playing cards, but thoroughly enjoyable. Made 2 - 3 donkey plays which cost me chips, but the hangover tablets had not kicked in yet.

Thats about the right level of humble pie thank you - and justly deserved:p

Fair play for recouping your outlay in the cash game. It looked a tougher than usual table - and having Mad Murat and Wes two to your left couldn't have helped your cause.

I had been in work for six hours on the Saturday morning and had headed staright in to the SE - I can confirm that it was a really long day. I was wrecked at the end and I wonder would if it would have made any difference if I was more rested - maybe.

I was really dissapointed not to do better. I had got myself into a great position with 22 to go and should have gone better from there. Oh well - there's always next weekend eh?

Well it wasn't that small a shove. I had about 15 BBs. If I was that small I would not have pushed. Sorry had to correct that.

And Tom, if you open-limped in LP I would fold, no wait I would still push I never give the LP open-limp any credit, its soooo weak.
