sauna rules

Just back from a weekend in Prague. The hotel had a sauna which I used and I noticed that the rules stated that you must be nude in the sauna all the time. Now when I used it I was on my own, but just wondering if this is how they operate in Ireland. I have used one in Sligo before and clothing was mandatory. I must admit that it makes more sense to be naked in the Sauna and the clothes get quite clingy, but not sure if this would catch on in Ireland.

    Just wondering what people think?

I know that in tralee's Aquadome and the Sports Complex that swimwear is mandatory and you cannot put water on the coals (I used to work in these places). The finns were horrified when I told them about this, and after getting used to finnish saunas it feels horrible to sit in a sauna with a swimsuit on and have to listen to old men complain about the heat when it is really quite cold compared to the ones over here.

The finns also say that you shouldn't wear wet swimwear in the sauna, something about the clorine getting into the air (at least that was their excuse in the local swimming pool).

    How Irish can you get????
    It's meant to be hot!!!!

Both sauna's mentioned in Ireland are family oriented venue's so I could imagine that swimsuits are required.
As for gym's and sport's centre's which only allow adults, it shouldn't be a problem, but been Ireland chances are you'll get people complaining about it.

Ah how us Irish love to complain. Just like the new spinning instructer from Russia in my gym. Her classes are top drawer yet a lot of women apparently complained about the class being too hard!!! Its a f***ing spinning class not a social knitting group.

Saunas you are supposed to be naked and in Ireland the heat does be about 38 where as it should be roughly 10 degrees hotter. The reason is most Irish people will not go in. Lets also not forget that Saunas are supposed to be 16 and over so I don't see a problem with them being naked.

well one doesnt allow under 16s in (the aquadome) and as far as I know the other one is over 18s (and is seperated from the changing rooms.
but isn't it depressing we're incapable of separating nudity from sex in Ireland.
yeah, sauna's are such fun over here, but if I tell people back home that I went to a sauna that was mixed with men & women, with everyone naked and drinking beer/cider they seem to think that it is some kind of orgy.

A typical of closed minded Ireland. As has already been said. Its quite pathetic that for a 21st century country which we supposidely are that we cannot seperate nudity from sex. You try and open a nudist resort/beech over here and see the protests outside!
