Hi, I thinking of taking up the clarinet as my first instrument. I was just wondering does anybody know where I can buy a cheap beginner's clarinet:D

I got my first Clarinet in McCoullough Piggotts when they were still where Avoca is now. They used to have a specialist woodwind guy in there who was very helpful.

A beginners clarinet is most likely going to be made from plastic as opposed to wood. It should still sound good though. You're still going to be looking at a couple of hundred quid though at the very least, unless you can find a nice person who will sell you their old one.

When I bought my current clarinet (wood with sliver plated keys) about 8 years ago it cost me £500 sterling. And that was an "intermediate" instrument.
