Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.

I haven't been into the Sporting in a couple of weeks but have heard about this through the grapevine....

I heard this Saturday is a €500 buy-in, no reg fee and €5,000 added:
Anyone know the start time, starting stack, blind structure expected number of runners??? 1 day/2 day event???

    Hi Ste,

    Previous thread on it here:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055017364

8,000 starting stack with 45 min levels the whole way through. Repeat of the 150 - 300 level when a running ante will be introduced. That is AFAIK...

Any chance of sneaking me under under your hoody Lloyd?

    Cheers Lloyd.

Are you going to head in? Don't think we will have a match somehow.

I'm working Saturday - but they are going to let me get away at 1. I will be there - but doing a killer week in work so I am not sure if I will have my "A" game with me. We will see...

Looking forward to this. I managed to buy a ticket off some guy for 350 which I'm pretty happy about given the value in this tourney

Think thats bad. About an hour before he sold it, another guy sold his for €250 to the Chief at the same cash table. (Coz he had no cash left). He then proceeded to donk off the whole €250 in about 20 minutes and literally had to walk home.

how did you get on in the end last night Piper (daddleedadada) I won a ticket in the S&G crapshoot but got crippled by a drunk in the event itself. Norwich Fan Rob was on our table and got knocked out by a call he wasn't happy with, yer mans quote was I called him becuase his face went white when I reached for my chips.....(can't say I noticed) The Red Cow games can be cruel and amusing :-)

For all you chiefs critics, I think he has tightened up somewhat, I went all-in shortstack UTG and was folded around to him on the bb, he folded. (9 2 ) he was going ok when I left. (with suasage sickness....urgh greeed is a bad thing)

He was in the Jackpot last week. He's moving around these days.

Btw the 500 game is a one day event for those of you who didn't realise (Alex told me this yesterday). It could be seriously draining by the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

I'd say he's started losing badly recently and is trying to stop it. It was only a matter of time before his reign came to an end.

Tis a 1 day event. We had the same structure last year which worked perfectly and it was done and dusted by about 3.30am. With a slightly bigger field it will be a long night but well worth it for the value!

I, and plenty of other have the same problem. Ptobably end up in a multi story until a break in play after 7 (if still in then of course) allows time to move it to free street parking. It's either that or park on the street somewhere, and go and reload the meter after 3 hours.

If you park in the Royal College of Surgeons carpark after 5pm you can prepay your ticket before you head out for the evening. It's €5 for the entire night (or whatever portion of it you manage to stay in the game). Not bad value IMO.

    Hi bops

Not sure where you're planning on staying but you could park at the park-n-ride at Red Cow or Dundrum and get the Jerry Lee (Luas) into town.

Hey Solksjaer, finished 10th in the end. Went out with KTs vs A7o, he filled a straight with the 7, lights out.

The chief went out around 15th or so. He has definitely changed his game.

He was "Chiefed" in the end by somebody else.:)

Well I'm still reading... ..I just wont be posting any more 'crappy' or zero contents' or threads with bad spellings, so I guess that pretty much means I've nothing left to say as that's all I have to contribute I'm afraid. My feelings could not be hurt by anyone here man :p . Unlike cardsharks, now if my thread was zero content the milking of that poor fellows LV plight was not exactly much different IMO...(funny though poor guy) my point to the Mod was perhaps some posters get away with stuff others don't. (ref Cardsharks broke thread LOL)
Now isn't that girl in X factor an incredible singer . See you at the tables when I recover from this emotional turmoil, (you obviously don't know me roundy)

Wow that sucks... I thought you had about 20k when I left.

I'm still trying to work out how I got knocked out lol.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭ollyk1

In case anyone is interested here's how i exited the building

Never had much more than a starting tank while people were pissing away chips all around me.

After 4.5 hours I pick up QQ and raise to 1k (150/300 with 25 ante) and I raise to 1k (from 8k stack). Button calls (25k tank)as does the chief in the SB (he has 6k). Flipper folds his BB.

Flop comes AA9 and the chief bets 2k.

I know he doesn't have an ace so the only problem is the button. I decide a flat call will look strongest and I get all the chiefs tank on the turn anyway.

Button sticks us both in and the chief finds a call (legend!). I fold and the button has AK!

The chief has T9 as expected.

I get moved for the 4th time in an hour and I have 4.2k after missing with utter bags of cabbage in the blinds and I'm in the cutoff with the blinds at 200/400 with a running ante plus the BB is away from the table (Plus I have K6 sooted )

Instapush and called by the button with AQ (of spades too) no problem says I as I request a 6d which duly flops.

Shame about the Q on the turn though!!

    Fatboydim wrote:

Yeah it all turned sour when i doubled up a shortish carfax.
In another hand I fire two shells on the flop and turn with TPTK against a guy who stood firm with his 6high flush draw that hit the river and i check/called 3k at the end with top 2 pair for him to reveal his flushiness.
Then on tilt express i raised the button with 10-7 and joeshow called in his sb. I missed but fired big shells on the K high flop, turn and river(K) against joeshow's 5-6 who called and had made 2 pair by the turn.
Earlier i was talking with 'The Cat Man' on my right from sky1's programme a few years ago that featured his woes opening a lap dancing club in London. He was telling me he was interviewing Paddy Power and he was telling me he was involved in the paddy power strip poker in London. He told me hs girlfriend finished on the bubble and has since got sponsorship because of her 'good run'!. When he found out who i was he wanted me to come work for him but i had to let him down.

Unlucky Len it never got going for you.

Just home. Eight for €1,500. I wasn't playing for eight place and am gutted. From 18 players out things stopped going my way. Flipper was going well when I left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 490 ✭✭Russh

Had the pleasure of playing with couple of gentlemen and a lovely lady to my right at final two tables last night, Lucky LLoyd and Flipper being amoung them. Really enjoyed the game (played too tight!!) and well done to all concerned. Oh yeah.. 13th :( ........ heading down to Carlow now for more punishment!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭Flipper

I just got home. Finished 5th for €5000. We flattened the prize pool after we decided not to deal. No regrets really... Bet off most of my chips on a bluff so I didn't deserve to win.

After playing for 15 hours you'd think I had enough..... NOPE! Went to the Jackpot to meet Sideshow and made €4000 in the omaha game there. Called a taxi, and now I'm back in Cork!!! Great weekend. Nice meeting some of the guys from here too.

I wondered who that guy was. - Stephen's a hell of a player. As for me ... I knew the guy didn't have the flush, I could see that but thought he'd fold to an all in bet as I could have had anything. But I also have to say I didn't put him on Kings as he didn't re-raise my raise pre-flop. I also didn't realise he had more chips than me - ah well. I might have to follow Gholi into retirement - Ahem!

really enjoyed this game aswell, was on a rollercoaster, up to ten, down to four, up to 8 on break with 14, then went card dead, still had 30bb, so was my mistake for thinking i had to get involved, but had enough of my bb being robbed (hadnt played a hand in 90 mins or so) and played back against aces, and thats all she wrote.

    well done lloyd, and flipper

(flipper heard u dogged paddy with ur 77 to his AA, he's still complaining about it!)

    sorry bout the AA hj!
