Had a look in the gym reviews there but no Kildare....recently went to see how much gym membership is in the Glenroyal Gym in Maynooth and it's very expensive so I was just wondering if anyone here knows what the prices are in any surrounding areas? Celbridge, Leixlip, Clane, Naas etc? Thankyou.

If I was you I wud just go the gym in NUIM. I have gone there many times this year and only once was I asked to sign in. All you have to do is but down a fake name & student number if they ask you!

I'm a student in NUIM and I try to use the gym as much as possible. Its very good and its quite cheap, 280 ish for the year I think(but don't quote me on that)
Yes you could sign in with a fake name (although they seem to be making sure that everyone signs in this year) but I would ask you not to, because firstly in comparision to the glenroyal its much cheaper and the SU has been fighting to keep the gym free for students for the past few years and if the few people who can afford to pay(ie have jobs) aren't going to pay then we'll end up having to.

Would I be wrong in saying it costs €420 or does the €320 include the joining fee?

I honestly couldn't say. I asked for a friend how much it would cost and was quoted 280, for a year. But perhaps that's because he's a former student. The girl I asked never told me about a joining fee.

I was planning on going tomorrow, I shall ask then and try to get some definitive answers.

Ok so went to the gym today and picked up a price list.(wish I had a scanner but still)

    Rates for Public:
Joining fee(applies to annual and 3month membership only) €100
    1 month - €60
    3 month - €120
    Annual - €320
    Off peak annual (can't avail of gym after 4pm M-F) - €170
"pay and play" (what a stupid phrase) €9.00 per visit/workout

I asked about the joining fee, I'm afraid the girl was a bit dumb and didn't know whether it was included in the price quoted above or not but the phone number is (01) 708 6406. I hope that helps someone.

Also there are different rates for past students but I didn't get that list, didn't know if it was necessary?

The Glenroyal gym is 420 euro for students....can't remember how much exactly it is for adults but I think it's about 750 and there's a joining fee on top of that so it is quite expensive.

Then again you could always try asking for a student membership, they didn't ask me for my student card when I joined, just asked me to write down the student number on the form but I could have written down anything and I don't think it would have made a difference.
