Would you lads be interesting in having some sort of tipping competition on here? I was thinking of a weekly one that was ran every Saturday, possibly running for 7 or 8 weeks. I dunno, you decide!

How about just doing one for the St. Stephen's Day racing and then another one at Cheltenham.

I was hoping we'd be having one for Stephan's Day, and one at Cheltenham (and Aintree too!) but I was thinking of a weekly one to bring us into the new year. Maybe run it for 10 weeks or so, starting next Saturday. I'd be willing to donate cash for the winner. If you don't want to donate anything that's fine with me. Whatcha think? 100pts to do what you want with. Put it all on one horse if you like, or pick several. A fun comp to see who would do the best with 100 quid on a Saturday. :)

i would enter but would be unable to donate money. If i was to win and you were insistent of giving me the winnings then i would send it to a charity

i was thinking more of, you have say £5 per race and can only make 2 bets in one race. At the end of the day the winnings would be calculated, so you could be winning until the last race where somebody picks a 33-1 winner or something, i do this most weekends with mates and its very enjoyable.

The only problem with that is that if someone works on a Saturday or does not really have the time some day to be betting on every race then it won't work. Plus I don't like the idea of betting in every race, it's more or less impossible to bet on every race and make a profit over time.

100 pts to do what you want with sounds good to me! I'm willing to donate 50 euro to the winnings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭wb

Yeah, Im always up for a competition. I'd probably be able to donate a book about backing horses or something as a prize.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭scojones

Good stuff! I'll leave it open until 6pm Friday 8th December for people to enter. If anyone disagrees with 100pts to do what you want with or if you can think of a better way to do things then just let me know. If for any reason you do not place your bets the 100 pts gets taken away from your score. The points will be based on profit only, so your returned stake will not count.

He dropped back to two miles for a simple reason, because he can. He could be the next Desert Orchid.

Im dont do much ante-post betting myself, but if I were you, I'd make sure I got on before the King George. If he wins it, his price will be slashed even further for the gold cup at which stage there may be no value left.

Last orders lads, deadline is midnight tonight. Please make your selections for Saturday 9th December available here. You have 100 points to do what you please with every Saturday. Failure to use points means they will be deducted from your bank. Your selections must be posted before mid day on the 9th to be valid. After this week, your selections need to be in an hour before racing begins. All prices are SP, and points are based on profit only, so returned stakes will not be calculated as profit. This competition will run for 10 weeks starting tomorrow. Think of the 100 points as 100 quid, you can dutch if you like, no laying though! Each way and win betting allowed. Best of luck! :)

Exactly. You have 100 points to use on any of the UK or Irish races on a Saturday. You have to say in the competition thread, one hour before the start of racing on a Saturday, so I guess that means 10.30am tomorrow (because of Southwell) but considering I did not remind people of this until now I am willing to leave it until mid day tomorrow, but that is an exception. Is that ok with everyone? The minimum bet is 10 points.

Sound dude. So far I have donated 50 euro... and that's it so far! People are not obligated to donate anything, but it would be nice! And I don't expect people to donate the likes of 50 euro either. I'm giving that much because it was my idea. Cheers wb, that's a generous offer and a great book too. Excellent for a betfair novice. Prizes are given at the end of the ten weeks.

If you have a non-runner you will lose your stake, however if you want to change the selection before the deadline then that is fine with me.
