The Ultimate Diet - JOKE!

Okay I'm going to open this by saying I of course in no way endorse or agree with the following weight loss system. While clearly favoured by many models and celebrities, I as a trainer, totally disagree with its principals and methods. I post it only to illustrate how silly this whole diet fixation has become.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T93MnykK2J0

The problem is, while this is clearly a joke and designed as comical becasue of the complete stupidity of doing so, the unfortunate reality is, this IS actually what some people do.

Everday I see people go to extraoridinary lengths in order to lose weight. The will power is admirable. I know people who starve themselves, take Lipotrim, and those who use no medically prescribed drugs in order to boost their "slow" metabolism. I have always found it shocking that many of these people with thier incredible ability to sacrifce and do extreme things haven't tired healthy proven methods as outlined in the stickies here.

    It's ridiculous.

Today I found out a 15 year old girl, who is NOT overweight is on Lipotrim - I am appalled, I am very angry with the people that would allow such a thing, and I am shocked. Of course, having talked to her in detail upon leanring this, it turns out that healhty diet and exercise is just too much trouble.

Is this really the answer we want to show our children? Is this really the type of society we want to foster? I really am beginning to get worried about the possabilty that people will take this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T93MnykK2J0 seriously.

Well, being known for my less than PC humour I have to say that I did chuckle once or twice during the clip!!

I really don't think that clip is anything to worry about at all mate….it's an obvious piece of tomfoolery and I would hope that anyone who can figure out how to use the interweb is automatically intelligent enough to realise that crack for weightloss is not a healthy option!

Anyone who does is a simple example of Darwinism at work.

Personally I would be more concerned about the 15 year old on Lipotrim.

To be honest Boru this whole situation with the 15 year old is emblematic of a deeper issue raising its head in our society. My mates girlfriend is a beauty therapist and she was telling me last may about a few kids (7 year olds) being brought in by their parents to have their fake tan and facials done for their communion! Honestly how ridiculous can we get. All this does is instill a false image into the childs head and allows them to grow up and conform to the OK magazine view of how the world should look.

The parents of these people should know better but unfortunately we live in a world now that is becoming increasingly cosmetic with far too many people taking the easy unhealthy option rather than some perseverance. Ultimately we know which one is right and wrong, but try telling this to one of these kids in 10 years time that has grown up and been brought up in a cosmetic generation.

Exactly. Drives me up the wall.

I'm not going to go into huge detail on the Lipotrim thing - we've done it to death here already, but I admit it is bugging me and I did want to mention it. It illustrates, as does the clip the increasing lack of perspective soceity seems to be developing as a whole towards health and beauty.

The funniest part is that when people on this board offer sound exercise and common ssnese nutritional advice they get abused or ignored by some. Call me a fitness Nazi, but I think people are becoming lazier and looking for the easier way out, and those who do make the effort to eat clean and exercise are branded as fanatical.

I guess we must take comfort in our lean waist lines, hard muscles and excessive energy and not be troubled by the insults. (Says possibly the smallest weediest guy on the board...well compared to Dragan anyway....).
