    Hey there,

Haven't done too much of anything lately but am just back from the pub and I've bet an old schoolfriend that I can beat him in a 10k race that is coming up.

I've put on a bit of weight since I last did any running (10 years ago) and know I should start slowly. Does anyone know of a good pair of runners to buy? Someone told me that Asics are now more of a fashion brand similar to Nike or Adidas?

    Dave

In my opinion Asics continue to make the finest running shoes.. I wouldn't consider any other brand as being even close to their quality..

Hey thanks orange, I've been on their website and it recommended I purchase the Asics Kayano. Have you ever used this one at all....it seems a wee bit pricey at €140. They do have other models starting at €80 if all I'm going to do is 10k would the kayano be a bit over kill?

It depends on how much you want to spend, Asics are good I was running in the Kayano until recently. A suggestion might be to drop over to Amphibian Kign in Bray, they offer a free gait analysis service, and then recommend a suitable trainer. What 10k are you doing? Are you going for the port tunnel 10k?
