Seriously, what is going on with all of these great match ups at featherweight? Off the top of my head I can think of about 5 Irish guys you could pop into that mix and they'd all be there by merit.

    Excellent!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,577 ✭✭✭Colm_OReilly

    That's a pants-pissingly exciting match-up! :o

Does Micky Young have a fight nickname?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 119 ✭✭dogpit

Micky has more than a few fightnames, his latest being Micky 'Young and Handsome',Micky reckons he's a bit of a hit with the ladies and tells us this at training often enough:rolleyes: ,altho i reckon if you saw his ears recently that would certainly dispell that myth.
I would tend to go with Micky 'ultraviolent' Young,if you ever sparred with him you would know what i mean:( ,have to agree with Roper ,certainly alot of irish talent at featherweight at the moment.

    Greetings from Down Under boys.

Great to see the ROT franchise is back again, I wish I could be on that card!

Make sure ya get someone to do a DVD for ya this time John (I won't be able to make it :D )

Haven't done a days training since i left two months ago by the way, but that's all gonna change. Been in touch with the guys at Sinosic Perosh and i'll be heading straight there when I get to Sydney next week - suffering serious training withdrawels at this stage - can't wait!

Good Luck to all those lucky enough to compete at the Ringside in Feb and the Point in May...

    Ciaran.

Normally between 68-70 kg but I'd imagine I'm probably one or two more than that at the moment! :)

Why would you want another? There's no better nickname than the Batman.

It's funny, the day after ROT5 I called Maher "Batman" and he replied with "Excuse me, it's The Batman!"

Forgive me, I do know him! Excellent, excellent. Both at middleweight? Good to hear. Must be a little bit of dieting going on after christmas. Wow, that's going to be a fantastic fight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,577 ✭✭✭Colm_OReilly

I pity the fool who takes PCC lightly :D

    So who's MC, like?

Also, I can well imagine JK will want the best timekeeper he can get his hands on for this event. :)

Well, the standard was raised significantly with Roddy v Murphy but I know this will be a good un!

    Isn't McAlonan undefeated?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 119 ✭✭dogpit

Kevin has lost one pro fight early in his career, not training terribly long but is one of my brightest young fighters and have high hopes for him, kevin is fighting top uk featherweight Dave Elliot next weekend.
Really looking forward to this ROT,some really exciting match ups, should be a cracking good show!.

Can't BELIEVE i'm gonna miss this.

Having seen Stokes' recent dominant performance in Scotland knowing first hand just how little training he got in, Kevin had better bring his A game and then some.

Wow! I can't wait for this!!!

This IS gonna be the best RoT so far!!!

Should be a good one, could be over very quickly!
Kevins last two wins have been inside a minute and against good lightweight opposition in the Dinky ninja's Martin nicholson and sudden impacts Darrin Hughes.

Im sure kevin will be ok, as his 'A' game is very impressive and to date able to deal with all (bar one) the opposition sent his way. His abilities will be put on display when these two competitors clash a winner shall be decided.

I'll say this, Kevin will be acceptionally hard for anyone 2 beat, especially at his natural fighting weight. He is without doubt gaining momentum from every battle and will be a handful for any one. But i suppose, time will tell!!!!

From a fan's point of view I'd like to see a late knockout after a war ala Roddy-Murphy!

I don't know a lot about Kevin but I do know:

    He's from PCC
    He trains with Mickey Young
    He's got a great record

Therefore I respect him and I know he'll be dangerous and tough. I aim to make this the fight of the night.

    Peace

Sounds like a great fight card will def be at this :)

Owen Dempsey (NG) v Thomas MaGuire (Kerry) LW

This is a BIG step up for the kerry man taking on the highly talented and very experienced Dempsey. However looking at Thomas' display of technique in his first Ring of Truth outing quickly submitting the experienced John Walsh and his recent display of slick grappling at the Irish BJJ Open he might just be the man to pull off this upset.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭john kavanagh

Jakub Stanoch (Poland Team) v Shane Thomas (Kokoro) LW

    both making their pro debut.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭john kavanagh

Karl Roche (SBGN) v Stephen Sommerville (3 Castles) HW

    more to follow...:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 450 ✭✭gymrabbit

Wow. Interesting match ups. Does anyone know anything about the Polish guy?

I'm a big fan of Stephen Sommerville but I've trained with Karl Roche and he's great craic too. Both two slick grapplers for big guys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭cowzerp

polish guy had 5 amateur fights and won all by submission as far as i know..

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

Jakub was one of the standouts in last year's MMA League, winning 6 out of 6matches by submission. He is an incredibly strong guy at 70 klilos, great takedowns and a murderous top game. Elbows from top will be a big danger for Shane, but if I know Shane T he is already figuring out ways to counter!
