    Hi,

would anyone know a pool or gym in dublin that i can use without having to tie myself to a years memebrship on joining?

I work in Dublin just south of Stephens green and live out west of leixlip, I commute by motorcycle so location on the south, west or in the city should be ok for me.

I want to get back into regular exercise, but i'm also thinking of moving job and getting out of dublin. I don't want to commit to a years membership that many gyms seem to require. I'd be happy to fork up a months membership in advance or pay each time i use a gym.

My preference is swimming, failing that i'd join a gym.
    Any suggestions?

    cheers,
    SOP

The Markievicz Gym on Townsend Street and the YMCA on Aungier Street....both don't require membership.

The pool in Coolmine Sports Complex doesn't require membership. It's near the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Most gyms offer that you pay a monthly direct debit....however you can always just cancel your membership in the middle of the year.

Glenalbyn Pool in stillorgan...its in the GAA ground car park i think. Costs 5.30 for adult non-member. there are certain sessions reserved during the week for public swim sessions. Also has a sauna.

Jackie Skellys in Ballsbridge do a 3 month deal, they also a monthly deal as well I beleive.

I find Glenalbyn really great, started swimming there around a month ago. The extra length in the 33m pool is fantastic and most of the others there seem pretty serious about the swimming.

Timetable here; apart from the PUBLIC SWIMs marked on the timetable the "Adult Coaching" sessions are all lane swims open the public.

The mespil pool on Mespil Road, you can just go in and pay when you want a swim I think. Use Jackie Skellys on Clarendon myself, pool is usually pretty empty there which is great but don't know if they do monthly membership - I know that you can sign up to swimming classes from beginner to advanced there even if you are not a member (but you do have to pay a bit more than members do of course.)

Mespil is membership-only AFAIK but they do have a three-month membership or alternatively an annual pay-as-you-go membership (€90/year + €6/swim.) I do vaguely remember when I called them that they might have had some sort of "pay for ten swims" thing going on but certainly it was all a lot more expensive than Glenalbyn and a only a 20m pool. Location is more convenient for you though.

I also vaguely recall that ESB Sportsco down by the gasworks had a monthly membership option and if you believe them their pool is meant to be pretty good.
