lower back pain - advice needed

    Hi all,
A few years ago I used to lift weights but ended up seriously damaging my lower back muscles (nearly required surgery) and basically stopped lifting weights after that and with it went any form of healthy lifestyle. In the last while I've started going to the gym again and making a concerted effort to get fitter. However I find that if I run on a treadmill at all - even for less than 10 minutes - my lower back seizes up. I'm fine cycling and usually do a warm up of around 20k in 30 minutes and that doesn't affect me but can't run on a treadmill and even rowing work can cause it to seize up. Basically I'm looking for muscle strengthening exercises that you could do without weights etc.
    Thanks

Firstly, go see your doc. This isn't a medical board, and we don't know how bad your back is, so we'll be guessing at what's wrong with you. Also, your doc should be able to tell you what excersies you should do.
