    hi all,

in the middle of picking a gym to go to in galway city.

have priced them all but would like to hear what members of each gym have to say about them.

in particular i'd like to hear about possible queues in places. not forking out money to queue for machines.

please can only those who are members or gym frequenters give their opinion and none of this "I hear such a place is sh@t.."

    thanks folks!

There is only 1 True No Nonsense Gym, its the Galway City Gym on the Tuam Rd in the Town Park Center. Everything else doesnt feel like a "GYM" Atmosphere and the rest is full of shapers and people who dont get to know other people who frequent. I tried every Gym in the City before i joined GCG and well i havent looked back, its the only Gym for heavy heavy Weights Training all you have to do is look around at the trophies in there and the pictures on the walls to see, this seems to be the general consensus among my mates and their mates etc they dont feel right in other Gyms and Atmosphere has ALOT to do with where you go.

One of the first things I'm going to do when I get to Galway is join City Gym. I don't care about machines apart from maybe a Cable Cross over and Cable row, as long as there are benches lots of free weights and a chin up bar and dipping station I'm a happy bunny.

Galway city gym is very small and quite rough. Not much more than a room with weights. Which is actually fine but the problem is that is expensive enough for what it is and gets quite crowded.

Crunch NUIG is good if you go during the times the students are not there.
Mostly cardio things - treadmills and the like. Some dumbbells and machines but it's not a "builders" gym.

I use the kingfisher. Good range of cardio machines and a fairly decent weights section, which is well kitted out and always active but never so busy that you have to wait for anything. Good pool facilities as well.
