I'm in a quandry at the mo,
I have it bought and paid for at my local Gamestop,

    No Probs There.

Nope, the problem is what to get with it.

Now I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy an extra controller set and
pick up Wii Play with it.
Then of course I have to buy Zelda, naturally.

    Then what?

I mean there's ExciteTruck, Red Steel, Monkey Ball...

    What to do.

And this is the only thing keeping me going until the thing gets released.

So what you lot going to get with the Wii?

Excitetruck isnt a confirmed launch title in Europe :(

Will be buying Zelda (duh), Wii Play (both for the games and the extra controller) and one other game that catches my eye... depends on how im feeling on the day/night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

If I had my way I'd get a Wii, Zelda, Classic Controller, extra Wiimote and mayeb Red Steel. And a load of Wii Points ofc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 569 ✭✭✭failsafe

I'm gonna get Zelda (obviously!) and monkey ball and a few extra controllers. I don't think i want another 1 player game to distract me from Zelda!

So i think that'll give me 4 controllers with Wii Sports and monkey ball (do i get wii play with my second controller aswell or something!?)

After the first weekend i might look into excite truck/red steel depending on how bored we get with monkey ball/wii sports.

I was also considering just getting one extra nunchuck, as most of the 4 player games (in monkey ball and wii sports) seem to only need the wiimote.

Wait... do i need a memory card aswell?

Definitely getting Zelda and probably Wii play for the controller. I'll see what the reviews say about the other games. Might get two other wiimotes. I hope exitetruck is a launch game, I've a funny feeling that it will be amazing and I do love my arcade racers. Excitebike was great for it's time and Excitebike 64 was brilliant so have high hopes for this.

I thought the console came bundled with wii play in the box? or is that wii sports... theres a difference?

Zelda too (hopefully), extra wiimote with Wii play. Can's say for sure after that. I really like the idea of Red Steel, but it could turn out awful, so I'll hold out to see what the reviews are like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,881 ✭✭✭Kurtosis

Wii Sports comes bundled with the console. Wii Play will be sold on launch day, and will come bundled with a Wiimote and should cost only slightly more than a Wiimote on its own.

Come launch day I'm going to get Zelda, Wii Play (with the extra controller), a nunchuk, and one other game I think, possibly Red Steel, haven't decided yet though. Then might look into getting ExciteTruck before Xmas.

Good question... am now wondering the same meself.

Only getting the Wii and the Zelda the moment. Possibly Wii Play aswell for the second controller. It's unfortunate that Metal Slug Anthology or Wario Ware: Smooth Moves won't make the launch here. And if Excite Truck ends up as anyway good as the Excitebike games that's another bummer there.

One game that could be worth a look is Ubisoft's GT Pro Series. MTO are good developers, and it comes with a free steering wheel. :) Only downside are that the graphics look quite basic.

Also, Red Steel. See what the reception is like after release.

No need for a memory card, Wii has a 512 MB internal memory, so that should satisfy all your saving/VC game downloading for some time.

Strongly thinkinga bout getting one, hope their not too hard to get a hold of. Do you have to be on a waiting list in most places?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 999 ✭✭✭DrunkLeprachaun

I think it's pretty safe to assume everyone here is getting zelda(anyone who isn't BURN THEM!!!). Apart from that, I'll pick up an extra wiimote and nunchuck and another game. Most likely red steel, unless it gets panned in reviews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Zelda (Natch!), and I might get Wii Play, both for the extra remore and the pool.

Other than that, am torn between Red Steel, COD3 and Monkey Ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,896 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

probably just zelda, wasted my time on too much standard crappy games when the 360 came out. possibly wii play for some christmas family fun because it comes with the other remote. nothing else worth it though.

excitetruck looks great but its not until january.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Zelda... because there's nothing else worth having out then, plus I plan on playing a lot of WoW over Christmas!

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 10,247 Mod ✭✭✭✭flogen

zelda I imagine, and wii play (as it's only slightly more expensive than a wiimote and it has duck hunt on it :D).
other than that it'll depend on the reviews; red steel, monkey ball, cod3 and so on all interest me, but will have to wait and see.
Is Warioware a launch title? That was a bit of craic on the DS, and I certainly got more life out of than I did Project Rub.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 258 ✭✭donkey 2002

Im going for an extra controller and Red Steel but Cody of honour 3 has released new videos of the Wii version and it is looking very good at the moment Im back playing the previous Zeldas so when they are cleared I will invest in the new one.
The thing I just found out today is that you can save your Mii onto your controller and use it on other people's Wii's. That is SO SWEET

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,807 ✭✭✭chump

Think I'll just start with with Wii (with game) plus Wii Play (to get 2nd controller), and extra nunchuck (as wii play doesn't include that)...

Then wait and see reviews and pick another one up shortly b4 or after xmas!

i'll get wii play, zelda, probably red steel and maybe raving rabbits

I'll go for Wii play for the aforementioned reasons and then probably Zelda (I really like the look of Red Steel though..decision, desions). All the family (and the missus' family!) have been instructed that money/vouchers will do the trick for Chrimbo and then I'll probably go for Red Steel. After that I haven't made my mind up yet, probably COD3 anyway.

Jaysus, can't time move any faster:D

I'll be also getting Zelda, Wii Play, and possibly red steel :)

Most places are finished taking preorders, as far as i know. Although xtravision and possibly smyths might be okay. Not for much longer, though. i reckon.

Isn't it just? There's loads of little quirky things like that with the old Wii. I think the whole Mii idea is deadly. Can't wait for Wii sports boxing (even if ign didn't like it).

As for launch day, I'll be going for Wii play, Zelda (get out of town...) and a nunchuck.

Soon after I'll get one or two of Red Steel, COD and/or Far Cry.

There's quite a few choices, but you can only play one of em at a time!

Can I just ask...are we 100% sure that Wii play will have a Wii mote bundled with it in Europe?
Also, has anyone heard of any midnight openings yet on the 8th?

    Darnell13 wrote:

I saw a mode in Red Steel that's called assassin (or something like that)...

You start the game where each person gets a call on their Wii-mote... you have to hold it up to your ear... and the speaker tells you whether you're the assassin or not...

    FÙCKING COOL

and to stay on topic, one word: Zelda

(gonna wait a while for Red Steel.. will need the extra controllers for it)

p.s. just a quick, stupid, question: does the Wii come with a nun-chuck thingamy bob

*goes to queue outside some random games shop... just for the hell of it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Yeah it comes with one remote and one nunchuck.

Why they didnt include a VC "classic" controller is beyond me, surely it'd encourage people to download the retro games?

No, ya don't queue, thats not cool! You pace forward and back in front of it muttering "C'mon... cmon!!!"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 163 ✭✭Darnell13

You get a nunchuck and a Wii mote with the Wii, but after that, they're sold seperately from each other. Seems a bit strange to me, i thought they'd be sold together.

How much is the extra controller and nunchuck cost ??

Will have to get Zelda at launch

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,339 ✭✭✭✭tman

Zelda at launch, then Red Steel, Trauma Centre and a classic controller from Play.com (gonna be over in London when they arrive though :()
Gonna leave Monkey Ball and a second Wiimote as a crimbo present for myself

    I was wondering this too.

What are the prices for games and accessories for the wii??

    sprinkles wrote:

Well from the looks of play.com, most games are €56.99. A nunchuck is €22.49 and Wii-mote is €44.99. So, in standard shops I'd estimate games at €60/65 with a nunchuck at €25 and Wii-mote at €50.

That's a cool little idea; I could see that working as a really cool little extra in a game like GTA where you receive a mission on your mobile (and it'd vibrate when it rings!!)
Red Steel has some great concepts behind it, and I do think a FPS could work really well, but I'll wait on reviews to figure out how well implemented it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Additional controllers will also be available from launch at the estimated retail prices of: Wii Remote - 39 Euros (£29 in UK), Nunchuk – 19 Euros (£14 in UK) and the Classic Controller – 19 Euros (£14 in UK)

Straight from the gift horses mouth ;)

    In order of importance

    Da Wii itself
    Zelda
Componant Cables (Very, very important. I dont think ill even set the thing up without them)
2nd Wii mote and nunchuck (although I really wish I could wait for more colours to get released - mmmmmm lime green)
    Rayman

Im not getting Wii Play, i think id rather put the extra money towards a 2nd nunchuck

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 nellyrev

erm now that this question is asked, i reckon Far Cry if it is built good, but more than likely red steel but again i hope this is good but doubt it will be!

I mean come on it wont be a GoldenEye

erm and Twilight Princess of course!

also eh i havent placed a deposit on the Wii yet , should i ? do i have reason to fear? arent there lots of them ? also do you have to place depsoits on the games too?

Ireland 2-0 mehh,, go the Marino

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

    I'm going for

    Wii
    Wii Play
    Zelda
Warioware (Why am I the only person getting this!!! No-one else?) [Edit: It looks like Play and CDWOW might have their release dates wrong for this one... Red Steel is is then!]

Maybe Red Steel if the reviews are decent.

Warioware Smooth Moves isn't out until 2007 in Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,473 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

Wii + Wii Play (with bundled wiimote) + extra nunchuck + Zelda + Red Steel (ordered from play) + component cable (hopefully) + I'll see how the review are from the US might pick up another game... or 2.

    Wii
    Wii Play
    Zelda
and plenty of virtual console points

What are the stock numbers for Zelda? It seems like there's going to be huge demand for it, same goes for the wiimote bundle.

Also, what's the release date for trauma center? Play have it down for next year, while other sites seem fuzzy on the date. Considering that this will be my first Nintendo since the original gameboy I'm not sure which sites are the best resources for Nintendo information.

If the Sega child inside me allows me to get a wii, it will be with Zelda and the wiimote/game bundle. I'm also looking forward to trauma center and will get that on its release date, whenever that may be.

Quick quesion in regard to numchucks.
I recall some rumour early on, that console would support 4 controllers max (be this 2 wiimotes and 2 numchucks, or 4 wiimotes, but couldn't get 4+4).
I haven't seen mention of it since though (and don't recall source of orignal rumour), any information on this?

Oh and reckon the launch titles I'd get would be,
    red steel
    wii play
    zelda
    far cry
