    Hi there,

Just fishing for ideas. Bored of doing the same things over and over again - watching tele, going to the cinema, going for dinner, going for a drink, playing pool, having friends round for a game of poker...

What does everyone else do to entertain themselves in the evenings/weekends.

Join a club or do a part time course in something.

Me, I don't get home until seven so after dinner I'm wrecked and do feck all.

A part time course is a good idea. Mini golf ftw though. :)

Done courses and enjoyed them. I just don't don't like sitting around at home and we (me and the man) always end up doing the same things and I can never think of anything new!

    video games

Not sure what you really want from this thread, you seem to have covered all the general bases with your list... i.e. go out, stay in, go out with friends, stay in with friends, do activities, do activities with friends

Just remember that most important of sayings:
"There's no such thing as boring things, only boring people"

Get home from work too late every evening to do anything. Have boring stuff to do like washing etc as i work all weekend also :(

Crack? Poppers? Green? Mean green? Blow? Speed? yokes? Double yokes? Angel dust? Joy powder? Backbreakers? Benny? Meth? Bouncing powder? tops?
Or you could try taking up a musical instrument......
    Maybe some gardening?

If you are that desperate to do stuff in the evenings, I've just moved and the house is an absolute mess, so you are more than welcome to come over and help me clean.
Never gets boring! I'll even give you a go of the carpet cleaner!! Now that is an offer you simply cannot refuse!

    Masturbate?

Seriously though, apart from revision: go to the pub or party, gigs, orchestra, movie nights with friends (and their friends), donate blood, ice-skate, honestly: use your imagination!

Tonight, I shall be sipping port while listening to music, with my dog curled up beside me, and perhaps jotting down some ideas for an RPG I'm working on.

    Read!
Why has nobody mentioned reading? I'm always stuck in a book

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 735 ✭✭✭BlueSpiral

I was just about to post that, because the amount I read now I'm hardly watching the tv anymore. I started reading the Bible once when I was completely bored and didn't feel like looking at reruns or rereading a book, and the fact I was completely skint. Pretty damn interesting book, 'specailly the first testament, wrath of god and the creation of the world is quite the intruiging piece of words.

Just out of interest splinter, did you choose that username because the kids used to claim you looked like a rat?

Take up a sport as in join a GAA or soccer team. Training twice a week and a game at the weekend will kep you busy.

I usually go for a jog when I get home, practice my darts for an hour and then maybe read or watch a dvd.

    There is plenty to do.

    I strongly endorse playing guitar.

I work hard, get home at 6.30, and take a lot of comfort in cooking my dinner, and chilling out in front of the telly till 8.30. If there's nothing on, I'll surf the web and/or play some games. Then I do the necessary things - dishwasher, washing machine, etc etc. Then the eternal struggle between my brain and body to get me to bed starts around 10.30.

Other nights I'll do nixers between 7 and 11.

It sounds boring, but I love going into work, so I'm fulfilled, I don't need hobbies to keep me happy :)

Maybe I'm not so unimaginative after all... I go swimming twice a week, I went to a wine bar and then played pool last night, tonight I'm going out for dinner with friends, Friday I'm going to a gig, Sat prob doing lots of DIY... Not into theather or acting groups, but I liked the idea with the astro park... Does anyone know if you can play table-tennis anywhere in Dublin, preferably on the south-side? Like where you can rent a table for a hour or so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 385 ✭✭MonkeyWrench

Most week nights I head to the gym for about and hour or play a 5 aside game organised at the local astro pitch. Later in the evening I chill and play a few xbox live games or watch a movie and take it easy. I would suggest either joining a gym or local sports club and then take it from there...

you should check out the comedy clubs in the city, I like them for a change, the laughter lounge is good, and the international hotel has a few nights.

I would also recomend learning an instrument too,

I get home at 7:30pm, by the time I get some dinner and get ready for work the next morning and watch a bit of tv its 10:30pm and I am wrecked.Hmm my life is pretty quite and boring during the week.I am joining the Gym next week, 30 minute work out so that might put some motivation into my life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,383 ✭✭✭Aoibheann

Take up some form of sport/exercise.. make sure it's something fun though, or you'll lose interest fairly quickly! I took up kickboxing just over a month ago and it's absolutely fantastic. You get a great workout, it's a hell of a lot of fun, the people are friendly and you leave it with more energy than you had before!

It takes up a lot of time and great fun. Also it impresses people
