I can't answer your question directly, but...
I like Kelloggs All-Bran Original the most: low cal, very high fibre content, tastes good too ;)
About whole grains: according to some review Nestle whole grain biscuits are considered to be the best of all-brans: the most natural, low salt and etc...

    can't or won't?

the problem with all-bran is that it's very concentrate and a 'normal' serving is a tiny bowl. It's also got quite a bit of added sugar and salt (three of the five primary ingredients are sugar, a sugar syrup and salt). At the end of the day it's a processed cereal.

Is it better than coco-pops? yes. Is it as good as porridge? no.

Id stay clear of the All Bran if i was you , far too much added sugar. The best porridge you can buy and the most nutritious is Organic Jumbo Oatflakes. You would need to eat manytimes the amount of supermarket bought porridge to get anywhere near the nutritional value of Organic Jumbo Oatflakes. You can get it in any Health Food Store and it comes in small and large bags so you can spend around eighty cents and get a small bag and try it out for a few days.
I am eating it now a few years but when i first moved over from breakfast cereal the first few bowls were tough going because i was so used to sugary cereals, but after a few days i began to love it.Id say give it a week or so, if you still dont like it after then, try something else.

I think adding a chopped banana to the porridge makes it way tastier and adds a bit of sweetness.

I'd usually have mine with a scoop of Vanilla Pro X and a banana. Strawberry Pro X isn't as nice in porridge as I thought. :)

Its a bit of a wont,to be honest. But ive started on porridge before but after about a week or so i always find myself going back to the all-bran.I normally have quite good willpower but for some reason i just cant do porridge!
Ill try it with the banana, see what happens.

    Cheers for the response.

Throw in a handful of raisins or sultanas about a minute before its cooked aswell...hmmmm.

MicraBoy - agree on the strawberry ProX - not too bad with milk/water but in porridge, rank doesn't come close.

Why don't you try sprinkling some All Bran (and honey maybe) on top of a bowl of porridge? Yummy.

I think this was discussed in depth on this forum before, but the toppings you choose can completely change your porridge experience.

At the mo I'm sprinkling Wheat Germ (Vit E and some B complex - apparently) and putting a nice dollop of honey on top of my porridge.

I also use mixed seeds if I've remembered to get them in.

    Frozen Raspberries

A Banana sliced - if you're using a microwave do not put the banana in until the end - microwaves do odd things to bananas - gives it a dodgy texture

    Soya Milk

Raisins and a apple sliced into cubes - a nice variation on this is to leave your porridge, apple, raisins and milk standing for a few hours or overnight before you cook

    Honey for sweetening

    or this mornings creation

Mango Porridge - 1 mango cubed left standing in the porridge and milk overnight and cooked this morning - well nice
