Dosing up on Vitamins

    Hi

If your training hard and pushing it. eating well. and working hard on top of this.

My training I am refering to martial arts/boxing as opposed to weights.

Would it be a good idea or a waste to dose up on vitamins.

for example I usually have either Pharmaton or Centrum at home. I gave the pharmaton a break for a few weeks, I think the makers recommend this.

I also picked up some sort of mens multi vit from GNC.

Today I trained hard from 3 -5 , had dinner and then had 2 GNC mes vits, and 1 Centrum, 2 1000 mg caps of GNC Fish oil. and a big spoon of Korean Ginsigin tonic. tons of water, and 1 litre with electrolyte powder.

Am I over dosing and will just pee this out, or do I need it since I am pushing my body and system in high heat??

I also might take a litre of water with "green drink"powder in it. I feel bolloxed, so figured I need to stock up on vits and minerals, and I have to go out in an hour too! tomorow is rest day.

Gerry vitamins take weeks to kick in so keep going and they will help soon-focus on b vitamins and vitamin c for immune system-plus quality rest-:D

maybe then get an extra bottle of B and C , too, to go with the regular miltuvits....?

The extra Vit C maybe extra 1000 mg tabs might be good to boost the immune systems, as that can get weak when your training hard and pushing.

    Hey Mill,

supplements can only ever be that - a backup to a great diet. If you're diet is great, then kudos, but most people take them to support a crazy body weight that is not right for them.

One book I can recommend is "Nutrition for Serious Athletes" PM me your snail mail address and I'll post it over (from work ttt for freebies) if you're not still in the middle of the jungle!, or I'll scan it very slowly and email it to you.

Seriously there's so many ways to train hard and feel like a wanabee farang! It's a big thing and I've done a lot of research, especially fighting at -70kg and wanting to drop a full class (okay in fairness I was a bit fat at -85kg but not 15 kg over!)

Sorry. I meant to say that they take supplements to support a bodyweight that is way too big for them in a combat ahtletics sense (opposite of Mill - he's not too interested in that, just that he focuses on actual fighting!).

    Assssh bong!

People need to be careful of high dose Vitamin C. There have been cases of scurvy where the body having adjusted to the higher dose then finds itself deficient on returning to RDA.
I know someone who never gets colds and swears by garlic tablets.

Yeah, thanks lads, see I got the idea I read in 2 places, 1 Sammy Franco from comtenpary fighting (SD Expert) who train himself daily with weights and SD, and the other from a guy who wrote www.skinnyguy.net (not that I need it...a buddy did his program for about 2 days lol).

They said that the 1 a day multi vit was for the average joe, whose biggest stressor was carry his laptop into work, especially on the days it didnot boot up ! LOL

and guyw who were pushing it, training alot, and maybe working a tough day job need high dose of vits on top of the great diet too, to keep the body and mind from getting wrecked.
