    Hey all,

Hope its ok to post this but Im looking for a recommended Physio or Physio type in Dublin City Centre or Dublin Southside.

My logic is that alot of you will have gone to Physio's at one stage or another and would be probably have your favourites or could recommend one to me. Ive never been to one before so I would have no idea how to judge if one is good or bad.

The reason for going is that my knees have started to give me slight ache's after training, also when I Press on the knee cap and bend my leg I get a clicking sound, which Im told could be a muscle imbalance.

This all started about 2 weeks ago when I broke from my usual routine and went on the threadmill for 20 Minutes on Speed 10 (I was trying to see how far I could go in 20 min..). Then last weekend I was sitting down and my knee locked up slightly so I had to limp around for about 20 min before I could actually walk properly again.

Just a little worried incase something is wrong I suppose.
    Thanks

    Try this one:

    http://www.physiotherapyclinic.ie/

Its just off Harrington street which is just off Camden st. Should be easy to find.

I had to go to this guy last year with a stiff right shoulder. I don't think his reccomendations did much good. The problem kind of fixed itself after a few months - still, its the only one I know and he doesn't charge you an arm and a leg (he just fixes them...ho ho ho).

    Thanks J.S. Pill!

I'll certainly give him a call, I had thought Physio's would be alot easier to find.

    Thanks again

    Hey there,

I run a Technical running store in Bray Co Wicklow. We get in a lot of injured runners who are already seeing Physio's, physical therapists, Sports Therapists. I could give you a list as long as my arm about who not to see, people are more likely to give out about someone then say someone is good!!

However here's a few people who have come highly recommended.

Darren Kelly- Sports Therapist, based out in Greystones. Does a lot of running and Triathlons. Knows his stuff. 086 2356820

Grainne Duffin- Chartered Physiotherapist Based out in Balbriggin. Have heard some great reports about her.

John Hopkins- Sports Massage and Acupuncture Based in Newcastle Co Wicklow. Is an Ironman knows running inside out and is very good.

Cian McLoughlin- Came first Irishman home at the marathon this year
. Does Deep-Tissue massage, again we've had a lot of people saying this guy knows what he's doing. He is mobile so will call out to you 086 4019722.

I haven't actually been to any of these guys but when we get customers in the door they tend to talk about who is good who isn't. I could write a longer list but these ones tend to crop up the most.

Hope this helps you somewhat. Don't let distance determine who you are going to though. If someone in your area isn't good don't be afraid to travel to someone who is good.

    Damian.

Milltown Physio Centre on Lr Churchtown Rd. --- quite a big operation & competent.
Pricey if €50 is dear -- but they do the business

Carol Gallen (Grainne Duffin recommended above works with her) She has treated me for both ankles at different times and most recently a medial collateral ligament tear. She is an excellent physio 3 times now she has rescued my soccer playing days :D.

The Bracken Clinic, 12 Dublin Street, Balbriggan, Co.Dublin.

8415194 and ask for Carol or Grainne.

Portobello Physiotherapy Clinic 36 Lennox Street Portobello Dublin 8.
    Phone for Appointment..476 3330
Mon to Fri 8:30am to 8pm

Nessa Smyth in Potobello has correctly diagnosed & treated a couple of problems for me. One in particular that a number of other physio's missed. I can't recommend her highly enough. She is also an athlete herself so none of this "don't do anything for 6 months" malarky. I can't remember off-hand the cost but it was something like 40-50 euro a session.

Just to second hunnymunsters recommendation. Neesa smyth was actually in the store and really knows her stuff. She is doing Ironman Austria in 2007 so she is most certainly an athlete herself.

I wouldnot however recommend tallaght physi clinic.
The head gut there "Roddy" is a waste of time and a money grabber.
Ive been loads of times and the treatment only lasts a few minutes with no actual relief

I've gone to Roddy in Tallaght Physio Clinic quite a bit over the last year or 2 and he may walk in and out of the room alot, but his treatments were always good.

He treated me after a broken ankle, and then some ITB.
