Abdominal Exercises

    Right,

Currently trying out some core work here, examples include knee hugs, chinnies, russian twists etc.

I've a problem doing some of the exercises, like I'm jerking the movement or something but I can't help it. Say for the knee hugs, I'll kind of roll a little bit when I get to the top position. Are these problems common for someone not used to doing any specific core work before now ?

And is it common to have slight abdominal pain at the beginning of all this (probably just not used to it?)?

    Thanks.

Can't really answer your question but IMO a great ab exercise is the suitcase deadlift. I have pretty strong core and abs yet they get seriously worked in this exercise. The good thing about this exercise is that you can start as light as you want and work up to as heavy as you want. Whereas with some of those bodyweight exercise you're doing the lowest level of resistance (i.e. your body) may be too much for you hence you jerking to complete the reps.

    what's a suitcase deadift?
and are Russian twists where you have a brush behind your neck and twist from side to side working the obliques? Feel like such an amateur altogether :o

Type it in to google and it should bring up a few matches.

By the way, when I do knee hugs I can kind of hear something like my hips clicking in to place...or something along those lines. Has anyone experienced something like this before ?
