I think the results will probably end up being pretty similar to this:

Slit your wrist and lick. That should give an indication...

Yeah, I should have made a poll. Never thought of it, and don't know how (although I' sure it's handy enough to do.)

Dont you mean what type are you?!
Of course he does. But why stick to the mundane and regular? What flavour quark (the correct term btw) do you prefer: up, down, strange, charm, bottom, or top?

My flavour is O neg. Which would explain my ulcer, but not why they won't take my blood on D'Olier St. It being the universal flavour.

It's not something I can imagine most people would be generally aware of. Unless they took note during a blood test, their parents told them or they donate. My father works in haemotology so that's how I know.

    I'm O+
It's the most common - but that's what makes it the most needed in donations!

I found out when I first donated. People should be aware of it though. And the fact that you get 'free' blood if you in an accident (for two years after yer last donation).

I'm A+, as are (if I remember that Dr Who episode right) a third of the population. Yup the blood service link confirms that statistic.
My mum remembered my blood type cos I was the first born, all she remembers about my other siblings is that they're all positive. She remembers this cos she's negative so for some reason, she had to get a shot after each of us was born.

I'm either A or O neg it all depends on whether my mum is AA or Ao for all you budding geneticists out there.

I'm more likely to be A neg though.

I have piercings and I donate. It's just that you can't donate within a certain time period after having a piercing, tattoo or even accupuncture done. Six to twelve months if my memory is still working.

Your blood is useless to all but other AB people anyway. Yourself and other AB people on the other hand can accept blood from anyone (unless your RH negative, in which case you can only accept blood from other RH negative people).

I'm O+....very common altogether but at least I'm more likely to survive after a car crash 'cos i can get a transfusion from any 'oul codger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,044 ✭✭✭Gaspode

    A negative.

Though I'm quite positive most of the time.

Cant donate any more cos I got several units a couple of years ago.

    I am A-.
A blood group gives a person more tolerance to carbobydrates and less tolerance of meat ie protein. So a person with A blood will benifit from eating more wheat etc while they will get fatter on meat. It's the opposite for a person with O blood.
Also, a person with A blood is more likely to have blood clots than a person with O blood.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,485 ✭✭✭Thrill

    I've forgotten mine also. I think's it's one of the AB's.
Hope that mean's i can eat whatever i want without getting clot's.

    Or a fat belly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 185 ✭✭upthere

Im not sure about AB thrill. I read about it. You could eat plenty of bread and stuff without getting fat because you got A
People with O should not eat cake etc because O blood is intolerant to carbohydrate. People with type O benifit greatly from eating high protein snacks like eating ham etc, while eating carbohydrates will make them sluggish and fatigued rather than energetic and perky. Also people with type A can benifit from a cup of coffee while type O would feel aggitated and feel like they are hypoglycaemic.
Reasons being type O is the oldest blood type known so oldest man ate more meat, fish etc. Type A is related to people who started farming etc and they adjusted to wheat metabolism. Quite interesting if everyone knew their blood type. I am not allowed to give blood because I lived abroad for a cumulative period of more than 5 years and I have a blood type they request
