I would love some input and this. I had my hart set on a TMAXX but then started reading about the 3.3 revo.
What do you think is the best truck 3.3 TMAXX or 3.3 Revo?

Revo 3.3 is $505 and the T-maxx 3.3 is $455, both trucks have disadvantages and advantages, the T-maxx is cheeper but not as "tricked out" as the revo. The T-maxx is the oldest "proper" monster truck therefore it has alot more aftermarket parts than the revo or other trucks alike.
I say by the time you have your truck running, lets say the revo it would have cost about €620, the T-maxx would be cheaper by about €50-70.
The spares for the T-maxx are cheap so that would be the same with the Revo. IMO if you want a track breed racing machine like Vectra's or Goldwings go for the Revo 3.3 on the other hand if you just want a backyard basher with the same speeds but not as quite advanced go for the T-maxx:)
    Hope this helps.

Take the cost out of the equation and from what I am reading the Revo would be the choice?

    Go with the REVO!!!

Cheers, will do. This is going to be my Xmas pressie from the wife. It will be a good adaption to my TSN and my CT4. Love the CT4 and thought about a Genesis but as the CT4 breaks very easaly I thought the Traxxas would be a stronger option.

    Cheers Vectra, very nice!
Suprised you get your parts from Tower and not modelsport in the UK? Dont you have to pay inport duty on all the parts from Tower?

I like the revo dont have one it just looks sleacker yet chunkier?
hate it when I say stuff like that!

I think its because the supension setup and wheels and tyre make it look chunky yet the body seems to look sleak.

    Confused? me too. :D
    Revo!

Think I shoulda just replied with " Revo! "

I think I know what you mean.
Hey Vectra do you think the 3.3 made much diference to the 2.5? I read in your blog that it was better than the 2.5 in the Tmaxx but do you think its worth the extra cash?

    Indeed it made a difference.
When the 2.5 was in my revo it was fine..but when i put the 3.3 in there it burst into life.. :D

That was until the conrod let go.. :(

Now i have got my newly rebuilt 3.3 from Traxxas UK.. I am debating wether to sell the revo
    OR
sell the 3.3 and buy a big block or something

    OR
Get the 3.3 ported and polished..

Why would you port and polished?
Why get rid of the revo?
What would you replace it with?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

Vectra I think that "port polish" is bollox, I read in a few places that its only a gimick and a money racket, what you need is one ofTHESE
The traxxas resonator alone is one of the best pipes for the Traxxas engines, I saw dino sheets and what a difference:eek:

what it will do is make the rev range smoother and add more torque/power.

Why get rid of the revo?
    Novelty worn off..:D

    Would buy a 1/5 scale Beetle ;)

Was gonna get one of those resonators.
I still will if I am keeping the revo
    ;)

    That would be it!!!
The single-chamber design dramatically increases bottom-end punch by nearly 20% between between 10,000 and 15,000rpm, and continues to pull strong with a 10% increase from 15,000 to 30,000rpm.

    Now thats good:eek:

When you spend over 100€ you'll have to pay vat at 21-25%
It still ends up a lot cheaper than anything from Ireland or the UK on most products.

Superchargers and nitro systems are a complete waste of money and effort. Don't get fooled by their marketing stories.

Ordered the 3.3 Revo £310 and £20 shipping from the UK. Got it from Ben Racing of ebay. He wanted £47 but when I told him modelsport will ship for £19 he agreed to match it.
I tried to get modelsport to match that price but the wouldnt, the best they would do was £345. The would have done me a tmaxx 2.5 for £245 with £15 shipping but I had my hart set on a revo.:D

Got it yesterday, now that was quick shipping. Wife found out how much I paid for it so now I have to tile the dinning room floor as penance.
Took it out just to make sure it all looked ok, wow what a beast. It is now going to be put away untill Xmas day when I can open it and look suprised. I kept the manual and cd out so I will have the running in procedure down to a tee by the time I get to play with it.
Ordered a couple of Traxxas glow plugs as it says in the run in you can go through a couple. Looking foward to it as my first two cars were bought second hand so never got to run them in. I use 10% fuel in the other two but havent decided yet whether to get the good stuff from Halfords (16%) for this.
What do you lot think is the best fuel to look after the motor? I was always told that the lower the % the longer the motor will last?
    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

The revo is designed to run on 16%+, some run it on 30%

I myself would not run it on anything lower than 16%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

    Thats the 3.3 right?
Yeh your better off getting 16%+ fuel, I run my t-maxx on Quikfire 16% and is way quicker than the other stuff I used.
    Good look with it!

Revo has been designed and tested to run on nitro up to 30%
Now if you do run 30% you have to replace the shim under the cooling head.;)

Personally I would say if it is the 3.3 then try the 16% MT first. i found my one drove fine on it with plenty of power.
I am gonna try some Morgans fuel next.. Starting with 15% an work up to compare notes.
If she blows then be it..
It will be time for a Big Block then.. Maybe a Picco .26 or something.. :D

I just took my hyper out for a bash for the first time in months and after cleaning out the after run oil she ran like a dream. Not one cut out on 5% stuff I got from Green Model, it's hard to notice a difference in speed in comparison with the 16% stuff I ran it on when I first got it. Nice and smoky too, like a chimney stack even, pity my mate wasn't around to video her in action.

    So,
How much fuel has it had?
What % fuel was used in it?
    Was it ran in properly?
what price have you got in mind for it?

Hard to buy a S/H engine without knowing sme of those Q's ;)
