    Hello there,
I am about to do my first marathon at the end of the month a fact that i am a little nervous about but have been doing training so i am confident enough.
However I am a little bit concerned about my runners. How important is it to have the right runners?I will have to get a new pair regardless if I was in the marathon or not.Can anyone recommend a good pair of runners that are purposely made from marathons or is there a store that can advise me on what to go for?
    Thanks

Shoes are very important, but if you're running in the Dublin marathon in two weeks, then now is probably not the time to change them.

There is a new running shop in Bray (www.amphibianking.ie) which seems to be very well set up for offering advice on shoes etc. Haven't been there myself yet, but plan to go after the marathon for my next pair.

Id agree with plodder. I always go by the rule for anything 10k and over: Only wear runners that are at least a month old!

Running shoes take about 3-4 weeks of running to fully flex and mould around your foot so gettting a new pair now, especially when you should be in the trailing off phase of your training is a bad idea. The store in Bray is the best place to buy and different shoes are better for different people. It all depends on the roll of your foot i.e. do you prunate or supernate while running... This chances are you dont know but going in there and getting a foot scan will tell you and they can advise you.

Me personally I only wear Asics Gel Kayano however these may not suit you. I'd recomment either Kayano or a good Nike Bowerman series. Expect to pay a min of 130 for the asics and 140 for the Nike but anything less is not worth it for marathons.
