Would like to go to this too, any places left??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

Some places left, mail me info@ko-martialarts.com to book in.

If you're on the fence about going:
John doesn't just teach techniques in his workshops, he gives you more of a roadmap for progression to fit into your current training. That's what makes these workshops so good, and so excellent for beginners too. Also, as far as I know he doesn't give too many in Dublin, so this is a rare opportunity.

Is this a gi or a no gi workshop?

    Tbh... i just prefer gi...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

    Hey Luke,
I don't know what John has planned, I'll be talking to him over the weekend and I'll let you know.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

Probably no-gi.. Alot of people generally don't have a gi, and besides, the no-gi stuff works just fine with the gi anyways :)

    Could be WRONG though :)

There'll be a couple of total beginners there, and it will focus on the fundamentals, so you'd be fine I'd say.

Last couple of places left, info@ko-martialarts.com or 085-8320174 to book.

Don't worry King, I've signed up, and I've done nothing as well. From what I've heard there's a few beginners going, and the trainers are all top class folks.

    Hey folks,

One place left on this workshop. Don't be the guy who sees my review and all the positive comments about it next week and says "oh golly I wish I'd gone to that".:D

Seriously, one place left, get in now if you want it.

    Hey all,

While you may be thinking "JK, Ireland's best BJJ practitioner by far, sweet!" some of you might be looking for something more.

    Maybe it's unwarranted ego...
Maybe it's extra cool flowery shorts...
Maybe it's the whats, hows and when of smacktalk...
    Maybe it's just fantastic hair...

Well I'll be out there too, so now you've got the complete package!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

Oh, Colm will be there.... thats great... I am beside myself with excitement... I suppose you can't have a K.O. Martial Arts workshop without K.O.M.A. Southside being represented in some way.:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

    Hey folks,

A place on this has just opened up due to a cancellation, so if you're interested in going or have a mate who wants to give it a try, get on to me at the details above.

    Cheers,
    Barry

    Hey folks,

Just banging out a quick thankyou to John for coming over, rolling with anyone who wanted and for answering any and all questions! We had a good session, some rolling at the start that had the hall looking literally like a sauna :D, then some open guard passing principles, particularly a step-in entry that I just know I'll be using on Tuesday evening. We then did some variations on attacking the back, including a neat little ankle pick, and some techniques, tips, and drills for finishing from the back. We finished up with some work on the triangle that was informative even if you thought you knew it!

My thanks go to the lads from 3 Castles MMA and all the raw beginners who turned up on the day. Hope you enjoyed it and it hopefully lit an interest in BJJ in you!

    Hey Roper,

I know you'll take this in the spirit of growth that it's intended.
    1. It looked like a steam room. Sauna's use "Dry heat" and don't have condensation/steam!
    2. You didn't mention the private on smack talk I gave you
    3. You also failed to mention the bet I won. i bought a very tasty lucosade with it!
    :D

All joking aside it was a great seminar. What I like best about JK's teaching method is the fact that he can teach both the overiding principles of something (e.g. fundamental five of guard passing) as well as the minute details of techniques. This is something I've seen very few, if any, other coaches able to do consistently (and I include myself in that)

    Colm
