I tend to buy lots of stuff online but when looking for runners you really have to try them on, most shops like champion sports won't have a clue what they are selling. I found this thread in athletics about a shop that analysis your running style with experienced fitters

I went in on saturday and got a pair, fantastic service, tried on several pairs and got video analysis. Was allowed out in the car park for a better jog a few pairs too.

Thanks for this actually. This had come up before and I think there was only one or two stores who offered anything of the kind.

What sort of price range are these?

Have been looking at getting a more customised shoe for myself. More importantly though, the gf is doing the Dublin marathon in 2 weeks and I'll be away, so may drop in with her and get her an apology present.

They're the same price as other shoe stores far as I can tell, so you don't end up paying for the gait analysis via marked up shoe prices. I think the brooks adrenalines I bought were something like 110euro but my memory's a bit crap :)

I'd say your gf would enjoy the visit to the store Jak. Mine did :) It's kind of cool to get to see your gait in slow-mo on the video.

I'm sure you and your gf know this already, but those new runners would probably be best kept for post-race celebration. It's a bit short notice to break a new pair in before the marathon.

Normal retail or less. about 100-150 for most I think. When you buy a pair you get a €10 voucher up til christmas for another person (your GF), and an 18month €10 voucher for yourself.
I am sure there would be no problem you both going in at the same time and getting the €10 off one pair there and then with the voucher.

I got asics nimbus viii for 130

Fair point on the 'breaking in' time actually Quozl - maybe I'll defer it so. At the moment she seems to have everything under control so maybe I'll leave her be till after it...

And cheers for the price info Ruprect, I wouldn't have been quite sure what to expect. I know the price of normal gym shoes but wasn't sure of the scale for proper running shoes. Also then I wasn't sure if the full gait analysis would be extra etc. - good to see it is pretty reasonable.
