Hey,

I want to take up lessons again so I've been looking around for different teachers. Does anyone have an idea of what the standard rate for an hour/half hour would be these days? I was recently quoted E30 for an hour (E15 for half) and you had to pay for all your lessons up front i.e a term of say 10 weeks. It seems a little steep to me or is that pretty average?

You get 4 lessons free and then i think you pay around $30 for 8 more.
You can print these and then just sit at your piano/keyboard.

I took these lessons last year and are fantastic. I am now able to read music and play most songs. For $30 it will get you to a very good level and then if you want to take it to a better level you can take private lessons.

It starts off at the very beginning and brings you through everything very slowly until you can do it all without thinking. There is no point in paying someone €25/hour to learn stuff the net can give you for a fraction of the price.

Good link Ciaran. Great for learning. I prefer the self teach method, but you gotta be careful not to get too many bad habits. Thats where professional teaching can help. Mind you, I've never had a lesson in my life - so I know all about bad habits But they can be overcome with practice.
