Recovery & Restoration Methods

    I'm interested to know what restoration methods other people use, whether it be natural methods or others. Also, in particular to those who train more than once a day, what restoration methods they use between sessions in a day and also how they structure the sequence of their session within a day, eg, high intensity in the morning, lower intensity or recovery session in the evening (or vice versa)? I've scrolled through some of the fitness logs but couldn't see any reference to recovery and restoration.

    I'm asking because I'll be increasing my training load in about 8 weeks and it'll include a couple of days that'll include 2 sessions so I'm particularly interested in intra-day recovery ideas? A siesta isn't an option.

    I'm about to start training 50hours a week, i've done this before and the best way is to get a balance going on and not train 2 similar qualities a day. Also balancing energy in vs energy out is majorly important, so make sure your eating enough to cover the energy spent.

    For supplementation i reccomend: creatine, a zinc supplement, vitamin c 3gms a day+ and recovery drinks being drank throughout the sessions.

    Tbh siesta would be a great option also self massage and myofascial release would be nesscary parts. Also throwing in a few active recovery sessions a week wouldn't hurt

    I've heard 'myofascial release' being quoted a few times recently, tried Wiki but this has just confused me - it sounds like a massage but with a lot more pressure?? Would you have any decent links to look at for this?

    Cheers for that Emmet + Dave, will have a read and lay my hands on some foam rollers + tennis balls and give it a whirl! Think the legs in particular could definitely do with it, they're putting up with a lot of abuse at the moment with the amount of cycling/football I'm doing.

    No pain no gain wha'!

    I've gotten a sports massage a couple of time for I.T. Band Syndrome and that was fairly unpleasant to say the least, involved a plastic roller and enough pressure to leave a bruise
