Support ROONEY_DIVES

I'm posting this in support of ROONEY_DIVES. First off let me say that I don't know him personally at all.

The fact is that he is probably the best online MTT player posting here, he clearly loves poker and his advice was always top notch. He is definitely an asset to this Forum, and I don't understand how this hatred of him started. Jealousy, perhaps?
He always got a raw deal off certain people, and people often pushed his buttons. Everybody has a snapping point, and he was simply pushed past his e.g. being told to "crawl under a rock and die" etc. It seems every time he posts he is picked on - the WCOOP thread today is a good example. Why can't people lay off him? Too many bullys on this forum I think.

I don't think anyone can deny he knows his stuff and his input is usually fantastic - I would like to see him allowed back.
Its a shame that one of the people intent on picking on him is ecksor, who gave him a ridiculous life ban, site wide aswell! Which moderator banned him today? I would appeal to DeVore to review the policy re ROONEY_DIVES and try and be reasonable about it, as the current attitude to him is certainly not reasonable. This Forum would definitely be better with him in it.

Bring ROONEY_DIVES back!

I don't know why his latest creation 'Evil_Genius' has been banned, i didnt see anything in his 20 odd posts to warrant it (but may have missed something). Seems a pity.
On the other hand, the owners and mods are fully entitled to ban anyone they want.

I think the word support is a bit strong, but I don't like seeing anyone banned unless they are spammers, shills or totally abusive. As far as I can see (apart from the unfortunate, and unadvised pm to Ecksor) it was really only a tit for tat thing that got out of hand with lots of people taking sides.

I would like to read his opinions, but I have no input into it so it doesn't matter what I think. This is not, and has never pretended to be, a democracy so fair enough.

I am sure this thread won't last too long either.

If someone is banned from boards they can't come back in under another name and expect everything to be forgotten. Simple.

Here's something you might like to remember - Boards is bigger then the poker forum. A lot bigger.

As for provocation etc. ROONEY DIVES could have taken the issue up with the moderators in a mature manner and cleared the whole thing up or he could continue to respond and repeatedly break more rules and go down the route of childish name calling. He made his decision and the moderators made theirs. End of Story.

Why not start your own forum and you and ROONEY DIVES can enjoy all the personal abuse you want if you have a problem with the rules here?

I know him personally and i know things got out of hand before, he will be the first to admit that, but he also believes that its more of a big misunderstanding what has happened before. He let his temper get the better of him before, but if he is unbanned, I'm sure he won't let that happen again. Anyway, I think this is all a bit dramatic.

Also, NTL's post was a joke so no-one should take it too seriously.

Well I don't agree that everything he writes is top notch poker theory, possibly for MTT's it has some validity, but does anyone know if he even plays deep stack cash games, as the two are completely different disciplines and what might be poker 101 in a MTT might be exactly the wrong move in a 100+BB cash game.

IMO, he seems to be a poster that can't take criticism or someone disagreeing with his view point (more so than others) which again IMO was what nearly always lead the threads he was involved in down the wrong track. But at least it's another view point, he does have a decent MTT record, and I personally wouldn't mind him back for the chance of him sharing some of his MTT strategy.

But I think Ecksor, etc. are well within their rights to ban him for what he said and how he conducted himself both before, during and after his banning.

No he doesn't play cash games at all really. Only when he's tilty lol. I'll be the first to admit I don't agree with a fair few of his plays, but his record is pretty impressive.

I don't see why he should be allowed back on the forum. He was given plenty of chances to redeem himself and didn't. Also I can't actually remember him making any contributions worth reading. While I'm sure its not the case in real life he came across as a very classless and rude individual.

HJ was banned and took it like a man and then carried on, why couldn't RD have just done that too, instead he acted in a very immature and childish way.

Who else has he offended? There is a clear division on these boards, the "don't like HJ posting style" and the "don't care about the HJ posting style", he doesn't molly coddle people and why should he. TO be honest, I don't think I've ever seen one piece of poker theory or useful strategy posted by Rooney_dives under any of his different names.

I'm pretty sure he can still post in the prison forum. Get him to post some of his invaluable advice over there.

Europeboy17 was a really valuable poster in the horse racing section and he got banned for nothing as well. Moderators can be a little power crazy and jealous, that's my opinion.

When the Poker mods come take a look at this they can decide themselves how to act upon that.

If ntlbell SENDS ME A PM telling me to **** off, then he will probably get banned from the site.

Now I haven’t really had any discussions that I can remember with Ronney_dives.
Apart from today’s discussion which I with drew from as soon as I found out who we was.
But I honestly cant remember any real insightful thread or discussion that he has made on this forum that has made me think well I better pay attention to his future posts.
All I remember from him is pointing out how good he is and how successful he is and what happen on Stars.
His record clearly shows he is good MTT player but to be honest I think NL MTT only touches on poker concepts and you can be a very good MTT player with out ever understanding a lot of poker theory or concepts.
Now either he doesn’t like sharing with others (in which case we are not missing any contributions from him) or he does not have much to offer(in which case again we are not missing much).
I my self have had arguments with a lot of posters here including HJ,Fuzz,Cardshark ,Ste5 to name but a few .we have had our disagreements but have managed to keep it more or less on a acceptable level.

As for OP poker life man you really need to grow up.
Your coming here insulting some of the regulars here and having ago at every one who is does not agree with you.
To be honest I don’t think you are making much contribution here either.
You said your self that your thinking of leaving the forum.
TBH I don’t think this place would be effected much if that happened.

Moderators are users too, right? So one user tells another to go fcuk a goat, and does this via pm; another user tells a different user to fcuk off using the BB. One gets a life ban, another doesn't. That's the hypocrisy I see.

I mean Gholimoli is jumping on this too - so is it ok for me to attach a jpg with a sign saying "go fcuk a goat" in response to him, or do I get banned?

I think we need to get the jealously thing put to bed.

Ocallagh and Daitho have between them probably the most impressive results for tournament poker on this board.

Are people jealous of this? Do they get banned because of this? Do people bully them because of this?

Other classy winning cash game players like HJ,Fuzz, NickyOD, boozer and pillowtalk to name but a few who put a lot of effort into the forum sharing their cash game strategy and theory here. Are people jealous of these players? Do they get banned because of this? Do they get bullied because of this?

This jealousy thing is nonsense.

ROONEY_DIVES may well be a great tournament player but that doesn't give you any sort of automatic right to respect here.

I've been clamping down on personal abuse via PM for years. Some people don't get bothered by it, others do and if they report it to me then I'll decide upon what action to take. I've banned users for PMing abuse both to myself and others plenty of times in the past.

I do have a question for Reggie on this whole issue because he's the only person on this thread supporting RD as someone who knows him personally and for whom I have some respect for his opinion.

Is this a case that RD wants to post on boards because his poker ego needs massaging or does he feel that by not posting on boards he's actually missing out on something and if so what does he feel he's missing out on??

I really don't understand what the fuss is about from his pov. If I was a serious winning player on the internet with the 100's of internet poker forum that are out there and all the money I could be making online why would I be so concerned about posting on boards? Or getting so worked up about it?? It doesn't make sense to me.

Actually it wasn't a joke. Site banned users can post in the prison forum found in the system subforums. Unfortunately my jokes are that bad though so I can appreciate the misunderstanding.

I'm happy to stand by ecksor's position on this. I made a foolish attempt to be an intermediary in an early exchange between RD and HJ which only invited abuse on myself so my impression was not good. Surprise surprise HJ's manner rubbed Rooney the wrong way but it rubbed me the wrong way too a long time ago and I didn't resort to abuse. I have no respect for people who can't find a better way to respond.
