Just bought the Ipod Nano and the Nike Plus ArmBand.

Read a review saying the Nike + kit works well.

    Review

I bought this case in the Meadowhall Apple Store last week along with the Nike+ kit

On a positive note the Nike+ system works really well!!

Does any know if it works with the Armband or do you need the Nike + shoes as well.

you need the shoes and the nike plus kit as well.

the kit comes with the sensor which goes into the shoes. they have a special compartment for it under the insole.

Yeah thats what I thought but your man in the last review doesnt say he got the shoes so was just wondering.

How does the Nike + kit work? Measures impact or something and from that it can calculate stride and from that work out lenght or what ever?

How much are Nike + shoes over here?

I've read posts by people saying you can just tie the pedometer unit to a normal pair of shoes instead of buying Nike ones with the compartment.

I've never seen it done but I've seen it mentioned more than once.

Kearnsr hows it going. I'd say you had some nerves at the weekend watching a 4-0 win turn into a 4-3 game!!!

Anyway the nike kit can be used with any pair of runners. The Nike ones have space in the shoe that it klips into but it can simply be tied into any laces and it will work.

Yeah they've been adding a few grey hairs over the last couple of weeks!

So the Nike Plus shoes are just a gimick? I've got some other nike vroom air shoes or some such and I dont want to be splashing the cash when I dont have to

How do you attach it to your laces? It looks like its just a rectangle piece of plastic

    Nike +

May sound stupid but on of the reviews says that you have to replace the reciver when the battery runs out. Is that true?

I do only cause I got them cheap and up untill now I only run 4-5 miles a go. Hoping to push that up bit by bit.

    What do you recomend?

I heard asics are good and had a good pair for a couple of years till I ran them into the ground.

Nobody can really recommend you a pair without seeing you or you spending some time trying to figure out your feets' individual peculiarities :)

If you're near enough I'd go to Amphibian King which is mentioned in that thread. It's in bray and they do video gait analysis. I got a pair of Brooks there but they have asics, mizuno, saucony and some other decent brands I can't remember.
