Ok i know this sort of thread has appeared about a million times by now but can anyone recommend some good post workout fuel to load up after a heavy weights session. I usually had no problem because i was close to home and could grab something easily. But im starting goion to the gym in college, about 2 hrs from home and plan to workout early in the morning, i.e. too early to eat a big lunch after.

    Please help me

buy a bag of glucose from superquinn/dunnes stores (about 1euro per 500g) get some whey, mix in desired amounts of whey and glucose (either the same or seperate bottles) and drink, simple :)

Some things you can eat/drink after a session.

    1) Whey Protein in a water shaker bottle
    2) Glucose as Tribulus Mentioned
    3) If you have some powerded creatine, no harm in having some after a workout.
    4) Eat a bananna - full of carbs with sugar and also has magnesium to help after a workout.
    5) if a shops nearby buy a pint of milk - milk has sugary carbs to quickly give energy back to your damaged muscles, it has some protein in it as well.

I usually do all of these after a workout to quickly replenish my bodys energy and to keep me going for a short while, when i get home i have a big meal full of complex carbohydrates, plenty of protein and some healthy fats.

Usually after a workout I have a whey and protein mix shake with water. Does the trick. The important thing also, get your dinner or somethign substantial into you after a heavy weight session.
