    Active citizenship
"The Taskforce on Active Citizenship was established to advise the Government on the steps that can be taken to ensure that the wealth of civic spirit and active participation already present in Ireland continues to grow and develop. "
They are looking for the views of the general public so if you want to contribute to their consultation process or find out more about the initiative their website has more information.

Star Gazer - thanks for the link. The info on the website is quite interesting, albeit outdated, and I'd love to find out a way to become more involved. Do you know of any upcoming events or activities in which the general public could participate?

The taskforce reported and it looks like their function has been fufilled and there hasnt been anything extra put up on the website since those links put up months ago and their consultation meetings with the public have ceased. The report was presented to the Taoiseach and the overall implementing of it is probably coordinated in his department ( website here ) so contacting them with ideas in general could be productive. Otherwise they could at least point you in the right direction. If it is something a little more specific in a voluntary area that you are looking for, this thread has a good selection of links to explore various opportunities to get involved in volunteering.
