Lost €100 before. Was well pissed for a good while after.
That said, a few days ago I found a wallet with €160 in it. I could've done the evil thing and kept it, but I decided to be nice and handed it in to the shop it was outside.

    C'mon good karma...

I lost €10 once, I was raging. :( Nothing more apart from that.

I've lost a few €50 notes in the past. Didn't annoy me too much at the time, just taught me to use my wallet more often.

I lost a fin off my surfboard yesterday.. :(
It's somewhere in the atlantic ocean. At least I know it's pointless to try to look for it.

Never have. I'm convinced a lot of people who've 'lost' something from their pockets were actually pick-pocketed but have the opinion of themselves that they'd never get caught out like that.

Lost some notes a few times, mostly due to drunken stupidity. Wasn't too bothered though. I remember finding a £1 note many many many moons ago, my mother thought I robbed it and stuck it in the trocaire box. I never forgave her. :D

i'd never hand it into the shop or even a garda station. if it was a wallet with id i'd find the owner myself. if there was no id i'd leave my number with the shop staff so the owner could contact me. too many untrustworthy people out there.

i was interrailling over the summer. we'd stayed in two hostels and i'd paid for them with my credit card and my friends had paid me back in euro (€225). we were in zurich so euro was useless and i didn't want to carry it around so i left it under my matress. two days later we were at the station waiting for the train to vienna (a ten hour journey) which was leaving in 20 minutes. i suddenly realised i'd forgotten it all. luckily enough i got a nice taxi driver who broke a few speed limits when i told him what happened. managed to turn a 15 minute one way journey into 20 minutes both ways. the room had been cleaned but the cleaner didn't notice the money when she made the bed.

paid the taxi driver in euro cos i had no other money. he was happy to get €45 for a €20 fare :)

I'm almost certain that I lost about 30 euro last night. I'm not particularly pleased about it at all.

Dropped a tenner in work yesterday. Meh, it's only a tenner.

A few months back I dropped €120 whilst taking off my overalls. Walked out of the job, was halfways home and realised...I'm really pissed, it's late in the evening, pissing rain, I bike it like mad back to the job and there's the roll of 20s sitting in the middle of the floor with guys just walking past it. I had some grin on my face walking back out.

    Never lost any:)

went to the shop the other day and spotted a fiver on the ground on the way home... I would've spotted it on the way to the shop, so i reckon i must have dropped it in the first place.
that's about as close as i've come to losing money

    Never lost any.
As for finding money, I always report/hand it in to the nearest place I can.

lost 30euro once n a couple of tenners.what i hate more is when some bar staff think you're p*ssed and decide their entitled to your change.

ever lose cash and then find it again weeks later ?

man ...i always do that ... it feels real bad when you lose it, but when you find it again weeks later, it feels so good ....like you'd nearly do it on purpose:rolleyes:

worst of all is losing cash somewhere like a shop or pub, and knowing that somebody has picked it up and kept it for themselves ... same as stealing tbh

Lent my g/f €200 about 6 months, she then went and lost her purse with the full amount in it:(

I remember when I was young(this was at least 20 years ago)I went to the butchers with £20 and lost it.
My parents were scraping by at the time. I remember my family searching for about an hour between my house and the shop looking for the money...that goes to show how hard up we were.

So as pissed off as I was about the 200 loss when I thought back to that day as a child it but things in to perspective....I wasn't going to starve because of it.

not really tbh. can you imagine what would happen if you announced "i just found €50. anyone lose it?"

if its a wallet or a large sum of money i'd hand it in but anything 50 or below is fair game

Went to an ATM once to withdraw a tenner and left it there, that was clever

Probs mention it to the bar staff who could say "sum of money lost"

Yes. It is painfull when you just keep wishing you could have blown it on something stupid instead.

    150 Euo when locked :/

Have to agree. What you loose on the swings you'll find on the roundabouts.
I'll need some large roundabouts to make up for the losses I've amounted on the swings!!

Are you sure that didn't go on the extra couple of packs of ciggys, couple of extra rounds(that you don't remember), an abrekebabra and a taxi home and don't forget the dependable 40 euro in coin change in your pockets.

It's worse when you think you have lost money, but they you realise you've had a visit from the beer fairy or spent it otherwise. All hopes of finiding the money go and then you get even more depressed.

You seen this new plastic money? Not sure if they do it in euro's yet but i got a 10pound note that was plastic a few days ago. Asked the dude at subway if it was genuine and he said its how new money is being printed, pretty clever really.

Never lost anything but I did find a purse out on the middle of a busy street that had over E100 in it. Everyone hadnt thought of picking it up because they all assumed that it was empty.
Anyway my friend picked it up and actually wanted to keep it but i got her to ring up the local radio station and they announced it. Owner turned out to be a 14 year old girl that had lost it while she was out spending her birthday money. Gave it back and got E20 as a thank you.
My father runs a taxi service and people are always dropping money on the floor and are too pissed to notice. We give anything over E10 to charity tho.

I lost 50 quid about a month ago, went into HMV to get some stuff, put my hand in my pocket and had that dreaded feeling that my beloved 50 euro was not there, man it took me all day to get over it. I really need to get a wallet.

When I was in college I drank 1.5 ltrs Bombay Saphire gin then passed out on my way home. When I woke up my phone, jewellery, wallet (containing €240 rent and cards) glasses and watch missing and there was a couple of sets of footprints in the mud around me.

I once lost £10 one afternoon, it must have just fell out of my pocket. A bit annoying, especially since I was a poor student at the time, but I got over it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭missmatty

    A happier ending....
Just after going to atm was walking down grafton street with 2 x 20 Irish pounds in my jacket pocket. Dunno why didn't use wallet. Anyway one of the notes goes flying out down the street unbeknownst to me and the second one i think was about to go too. Guy walking behind me runs up with the lost twenty and points out the imminent escape of the second. I was so surprised and grateful, i may be cynical but i think most ppl would have scarpered with both of them. It really brightened up my day and as a poor student at time i would have been hit hard by losing that dosh. Hope the good karma came back round to him

Money is for the plebs. In my line of work freebies are the norm. Right now I am wearing a robe given to me by my learned brother Gucci, shoes from those lovely people at Nike and shades from the most Righteous Bono.

Usually think I lose money and its usually €50 to €100. I have a habit when drunk of putting money under my mattress when I get in. So its a nice surprise when I find it. Received €100 in my bank yesterday. Went to a National Irish Bank and was taking out €100. It never came out of the machine. Took €80 and it came out. Rang the bank and then my bank to see if I could get it sorted but they said that everything added up. My account was down €100. That was about three months ago and was refunded yesterday. Happy days.

has happened to me numerous times.

Doesn't bother me. Can't understand why you'd get upset about it. It's gone, learn your lesson and move on, getting angry about it will do **** all

When i was in Switzerland i was walking across a busy street and my wallet fell out of my pocket.Thanksfully though some swiss guy picked it up ran over to me and gave it back.So lucky because i didnt notice it had fallen and it had about €300 in it.
