Any comments on the usefulness of these as protein supplements? 25g of protein and 280kcal per 68g bar, which seems more or less the same as a shake, and they taste pretty fantasitc. I bought one today out of curiousity....

not one of my shakes :D

to be honest, having the meal in liquid form is one fo the reasons why it's absorbed so quickly. A bar, even if it has all the same stuff, will take longer.

Which could be good at night.

Havok: Did you buy it in a retailer? How much was it?

..instead of just eating sugar before bed. :D

I would view most protein bars as something you keep at your desk & when all else fails (cooking organisation etc.) and you would otherwise have to skip a meal - you chow down on a protein bar.

Personally I don't usually buy them - I have a habit of eating the whole box if they taste good. :p

I agree with T, I use protein bars as a last resort. Usually when the shakes (in the body that is) come on and nothing else is available I will reach for the bars. The contain a lot nasty stuff as well as 25g of protein, just like any chocolate bar!

I agree with t and jon, protein bars should be your absolute last resort, if you're stuck go into a Spar and buy a pack of cooked chicken.

I wouldn't normally eat them at all, and wouldn't intend on making them a staple part of my diet or anything, but was curious to try them. Was about 3 euro for the 68g bar I think which certainly isn't cheap...there were several flavours, strawberry, lemon cheesecake, vanilla ice cream and a few others.

Tasted alot better then I thought it would...don't think it'll become an anyway regular habit though!
