    Guys

Im just having a little angry moment here:mad:

I just wanna say does anybody else think Liffey Valley is just 1 big girls shop.
I mean I went there with my wife for a quick look around and I swear I nearly went off my pallet.....its like one girls shop after another after another, and if your unluckly enough to enter in the Maks & Spencers end its a full 1KM of girls shops till you reach Dixions.

Any way just needed to get that off my chest:mad:

Was he not talking about Liffey Valley shopping centre specifically?Oh wait...HE WAS! And pray tell, where in this beautiful country of ours is this shopping centre he's referring solely to?Thats right...you got it...Dublin City!!!!!1

So, in conclusion, yes, yes it is a Dublin Related thread, oh and have a look where it is now.

Ah you upset noone. The thing is, it's suited to Dublin City the Dublin City forum. Dublin related threads can't be left in AfterHours (or at least 99% of them) because AH isn't solely comprised of users from Dublin and who'd find it somewhat unfair(and rightly so) that Dublin threads are left there while threads relating to matters in other towns/countys are moved to their relevant forums. If this thread had been about a shopping centre in Kilkenny, then it would have been quickly shifted to the kilkenny city forum.
If the threads weren't moved then the Regional fora would be redundant and AH would be chaotic.

    QFT.

I think all Temples To Commercialism are a womans haven anyway. The belly tops, bling, gaudy labelled paper bags, thumping dance beats and JLO perfume have replaced tweed coats, rosary beads, dog eared missalettes, and bells and smells as the dominant religious props of Ireland 2006.

Ah sure what harm, it all stays in the country, right? Right?

    Abetarush

cool idea for a shopping centre....we could replace Dorothy Perkins with the "Playboy Shop".....or change "A-Ware" to the Formula 1 shop....but I think we should leave Le Senza....I like that shop;)

liffey valleys a kip, and a rip off to boot. if your a bloke theres nothing bar easons the sony centre and virgin. the rest is girly and metro type shops for twats with too much money (i.e credit cards :D ) and no sense. and dont start me on "VUE" ****ing 19 euros for a film and a medium popcorn and coke?

and sweet jesus did the architect like white marble or what? fecking place will leave you snowblind in summer :D

the only good thing in it is the burger king. no one knows its there and as such the foods freshly (well for BK) made when you order it.

i swear it nearer to me than the square but i go to tallaght every time cause despite having all the posh shops the ONLY supermarket they have is marks and spencers. FFS you cant even buy a packet of figrolls and lyons tea there:rolleyes:

you'd definetly know there was something dodgy in the planning of the place. no wonder half the tribunals involve it :D

It's all good Kaiser. (Why are there so many Kaisers and Keysers about these days?).

I still think shopping centres are hell... wherever in the country they are.

I'm off back to AH now, I hate the sight of blood...

Yeah Liffey Valley is a kip, IMO the worst big SC in Dublin but it seems most shopping centres in Ireland are designed for women. I was in Blanchardstown the other day planning to buy a pair of shoes, a hoodie and a pair of jeans or combats and I came home with nothing since there's was such few mens clothes shops and a piss poor selection of clothing in them.

The only reason your post was reported was to bring it to the attention of the AH mods so that it could be quickly moved before there was the usual moaning of a Dublin thread being left in AH.

They were reporting one of my posts, for what seems to be absolutely no logical reason(or proper reason for reporting a post) but hey, people are known to be liberal with that report post button so I pay no heed.

Regarding Shopping Centres , I used to work in Dundrum Town Centre, quite liked it tbh and was really convenient for getting food on my lunch and breaks. I've never really noticed them to be targetted primarily at females though, always found what I was looking for in Dundrum Town Centre anyway and think it's got a good selection of both men and womens stores.

Have only been out to Liffey Valley a few times, mainly just to go out to the cinema. Fantastic cinema, haven't been out in a while but €19 is a bit of a rip alright. Did notice there wasn't much in the way of mens stores though.

My friend, you truly have no idea how sad some people who use this site are. Believe it or not boards used to be a good laugh.

This site is constantly cutting out the great services it had. No search function, the drop down on the homepage is gone. Heres a suggestion to speed up the site- get rid of the fcuking Rat Button (or report button or whatever its called)

Dundrums a great shopping centre. Particularly the Virgin Megastore, you scan a CD barcosde at the listebning post and get a 30 second mp3 clip of each track! Savage!

All shopping centres are crap. Town is where it's at. Except of course for the Ilac and Stephens Green. They're just as crap as the suburban centres. In fact the Ilac is just so bad it's funny. Even the bits that have had the makeover. Although Roches (soon to be gone) is good, and there will be a huge Dunnes there next year. But it will probably still be full of skangers.

    .

are you talking about the old one before that massive monstrosity was built around the corner? if so that was a lovely place, kinda reminds me of the one in rathfarnham. great selection of shops and your right there was a good mix of mens and womens shops. i used to get me glasses in tommy carrols opticians on the top floor. terrible nice guy and good service from his staff and i used to get the halloween brack at the cake shop down stairs! its a pity stores like this are on the way out.
my friend works in the new one and my god what a massive rip off that place is. they even force the staff to pay for parking. my friend now leaves her car at the luas stop and gets that into work cause its cheaper than leaving it at work all day. pluss like every other S.C its predominantly womens shop.

i swear women bitch about how guys dress but if they lost 75% of theyre shops im pretty sure theyd dress crap too. (i also think its hysterical that they moan about how they earn so much less than men and then proceed to spend so much on clothes :D )

It's the same everywhere but believe me Liffey Valley is better than the Grafton Centre in Cambridge! There you have Burtons menswear and Debenhams for mens clothes. That's it! The centre of Cambridge has River Island and one or two other shops but not much else.

Why is it that women have shops like H&M where it is possible to get some decent clothes quite cheaply while if guys want cheap clothes they have to go to Dunnes or Pennys where the clothes have no fitting or styling to them? Conversely if a guy wants decent clothes he has to pay a fortune. I'm not big into mens fashions but I would like to look decent for the missus without having to empty my bank account. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Have to say Id pop into Liffey Valley for H&M they do have some decent guys clothes for a decent price......Now I do know you have Tommy Hillfiger for men in Liffey Valley but do any men really buy clothes from that shop??...100 snots for a Polo shirt when you could pop into Dunnes and get 1 for €7.

I was talking about the subject of Liffey Valley being one big girls shop in work yesterday and one guy told me they actually had like a "Male Creche" there one time....it used to be where Teddy Bear Factory was....He couldnt tell me what exactly was in it but sounds like the way forward to me anyway!

    Dundrum just confuses me...
