I am totally amazed by how many people 'knew' and respected Steve Irwin. Our telly channels have been chockers full of tributes for Steve and they have shown world reaction as well. I am gobsmacked that he had such an impact.....it is fantastic!

He was a genuine, caring, passionate and loving man. Everyone here feels as though they have lost a mate even without 'knowing' Steve. People who had met him say that he was even more genuine and kind etc in the flesh.

My heart goes out to Teri, Bindi and Bob. He hadn't spoken to them for a week while he was up in Nth Queensland, as they were bushwalking down in Tasmania. He died the day after Father's Day here.......and hadn't been able to speak to his kids on the day :(

He was a conservationist, an environmentalist and an educator. But most of all he was a great bloke with a huge heart.

    We are sad here

    :(

Apparently the family have refused a state funeral saying Steve was an ordinary man who wouldn't have wanted it.

The next post I see with any of those offensive images, the person is going to get a ban. The mods are tired of cleaning this thread up, time and time again. Use a bit of common sense people. Let the man rest in peace!

Hear, Hear...... If you don't have something appropiate to say then don't post. Simple as that.
We are not interested in reading it, like that stupid attempt at a joke by a certain mod (RR) who posted earlier

Did you see this? Article on sky news?

I am so fed up with Germaine goddamn Greer. She is an overly opinionated and unintelligent woman who does not know how to keep her mouth shut. She did push the feminist movement forward, but now she is undoing any good work she has done in the past by mouthing off craziloy in every direction. Her ridiculous anti-male tirades lead me to the conclusion that she is now nothing more than a deluded sexist who does not deserve a soapbox for her one-sided and moronic sermons.

What do you expect ? feminists are a evil hate movement steve was a poster boy for manhood cant let this out pouring of greif for him go unpunished can we?.

Feminists are an evil hate movement?

I am distancing myself so far from that statement u cant even see me.

I just think that Germaine Greer has been given a platform for way too long, and her ridiculous spouting man-hatred can no longer be tolerated. She seems to think we are all un-evolved morons, and any stupidly superior statements like that, if aimed at women, or black people, or other ethnic groupings would not be tolerated. But because she is talking about men its somehow intelligent and enlightened. Man I hate her.

    R.I.P Steve.

Gone but not forgoten. At least he died doing something he loved most. Fair play to him for not only educating us, but enteraining us to.

Shame on those who cant take anything seriously, and have to destroy such a story by making offensive / inappropriate comments / images / videos. You wouldnt like it if we took the piss out of one of your friends / family if something happened to them like this.

hearing this put me on a bit of a downer. i wanted to see him at the age of 70 still pissing off crocodiles.

i have to say i thought he was great.
i enjoyed his shows, i loved his enthusiasm and his passion, and the one thing i will always remember was him in a swamp somewhere and finding a little lizard that had been injured in a fight and was slowly dying.
steve being steve, wouldnt let himself save the little lizard, preferring for nature to do its thing, but being hugely upset and having to walk away from the camera with tears running down his face.
a huge heart, a great bloke, and his popularity seems to have been worldwide.

ok. i just deleted a post in another thread in which someone made a distasteful remark about steve irwin.
    that's enough for me.
i'm going to start banning people if i see any more. consider yourselves warned.
