I may head to the Fitz and play a STT for the EOM game. If that goes badly, i'll be going to the S/E double chance.

i think you'd be better off heading to the jackpot for the 20 freeze-out, alot of easy money there and very little pressure. AND you could give share your knowlegde of hi/lo with me!! you should definately give the jackpot a go! :D

Fitz for me. Schedule for the evening:

8.15: Turn up, have a chat, get my name down for the one hander.
8.45: Play the one hander, get rivered.
8.46: Pay €270 to Ken (educated guess it will be him).
9.05: Sit at my table after start was called.
9.11: Complain that it is getting later evey month.
    9.13: Get dealt first hand.
9.33: Play first hand, fold after the flop.
10.02: Win first hand when everyone folds to my BB.
10.35: Leave table 45 seconds before break. Queue up for dinner.
    10.40: Start eating dinner.
11.10: Start back with 4525 in stack.
    11.20: Get up to 4975.
11.52: Get sick of seeing no cards and getting blinded away. Go all in with KQo and lose when called by Stuarts A6o.
11.53: Put name on cash board for Omaha game.
12.25: Get tired of waiting, take name off and go home.

will head in to the fitz for a couple of sats, though i dont think they offer much value, so i will prob try one 6 hander, one blind omaha and then head to the se if those fail.

Can’t make it 2nite unfortunately as im really tired and just think if I meet up with Dom I’ll just be reminded of his gigantic roars in his sleep (he calls it snoring) and then won’t be able to sleep again from the trauma.
Its shame cuz it would have been nice to meet up with El Stunt as well as I’m a fan of his blog and I think the dude is just hilarious …

Should be a good crowd tonight at the Fitz i reckon, see u all there.

(going for a couple of pints beforehand, so might be playing a touch looser than normal)

Ended up chopping it 3 ways with Donegal Joe and some other guy for 6k each. Got a nice run of cards at the final table including QQ twice and JJ once, which all stood up. I had 300k of the chips 3 handed (580k in play), but doubled up the 100k stack with AJ v his 99 to even it all up. We decided to take 2k off the top then to make the prize fund 8k, 5k, 5k, and I started to play like a clown as I always do after those semi deals, and I dropped down to 60k. After a bit of short stacked ninja poker I got back to 100k and managed to double up with A7 v JT. We all had pretty much the same and decided to just chop it. The stacks were even and they're both decent players so there was no real reason to play on.

The only negative of the night is that any sort of tight conservative table image I may have had was absolutely destroyed! On three different occassions I had to call big all ins with 45, J2, and J4 (on a 237 flop!) after pot committing myself each time. Turning over the J4 was really bad, but there was 90k in the pot and it was only 8k more to call. My jack was live too so I was getting the odds but felt like a right muppet flipping it over! The 45 off was pretty bad too, I raised utg with it lol only for a poxy shortstack to go over the top and I had to call. Oh well I probably didn't have much of a tight image to begin with, at least I should get my AA paid off next time.

on the other side of the pond in the SE. in the tournie for the monkies playing for bananas. did a deal with HalfBaked and another guy where they took 1K each. and i as a shortstack took 800. Joe the other guy had a 2:1 chip advantage over me and Peter wasnt too far behind so thought it was a good one for me. it should have been split even money when we were all even stacked and blinds were 4k/8k. Joe wanted to play on for another 5 minutes just to see what happened.

HB did get lucky with 3 tables to go when he was short stacked and tripled up. blinds were 800/1500 (i think) and he pushed for 7k or so with AQ in EP i re raised in MP with AA to 17K and some1 else pushed with JJ for 15k. 4 clubs on the board and HB has the Ac and the other guy had the Jc...but he played great poker after that. getting a player to fold 88 on a 7 high board....pure class.

I got eliminated pretty much exactly on schedule when I kindly uttered 'Here you go Mr Hicks, please take my average chipstack as I feel like being an idiot'. Out only about 50 from the money, so close.............

out in 16th, thought it would be fun the raise 1/3 of my stack instead of pushing the button with 18 to go. prob wouldnt have made a difference KJ<A7

then AQ<A6, good fun, but will revise my pushbotting before next trip

not an ideal table for me with thomas nolan on my cut off and dave o callaghan on my button, added to being totally and utterly card dead all night, i finally managed to push for about 6k with QQ after dave had made it 1600 only for the BB to wake up with KK, out in 54th of 116.

Well done dave, nice one, kinda guessed u might end up taking it down.

Yep that was me. The hand doesn't bother me. If I have more chips I fold to your re-raise because I knew I had to be behind. It's fates sense of humour that bugs me. Couldn't be decent enough to knock me out 2 hours earlier. Anyway well done to all who made some cash.

Well done Brian, I though you played very well all night. Gone are those rocky days of yours....you were a raising machine for a lot of the night! You got very unlucky against Joe after his "we'll play for five minutes and see what happens". Other than the poker gods frowning down upon you twice (both times getting your chips in ahead) and a pretty crazy call for all his stack with 8-10, against your A-6 you would have been in an excellent position to taken this down.

I did indeed luckbox my way out against the AA and JJ, but sometimes you need a break like that. Had a good few bad beat lately in tourneys (I can hear the sighs of pity out there) so some positive variance was most appreciated.

Congrates to all those who cashed in the EOM.

there were times last night where i wanted to raise more often on the button on the FT but I got away from it because the SB always went for chips b4 i was to act and always inevitably raised.

i was moved quite a bit last night but apart from the one table the blinds to my button were so weak tight it wasnt funny...really enjoyed the game....thanks for the lift home too dude.

    Standard night. First table:

    Seat1 TAG Lad
    Seat2 5Starpool (Dom)
    Seat3 5pin5 (Eamon O'R)
    Seat4 TAG Lady
Seat5 Leslie McLean (Replaced by John O'Callaghan)
    Seat6 Peter Heslin
    Seat7 Bill O'Keefe
    Seat8 Me
    Seat9 Kevin Fitz
    Seat10 Niall Duggan

So that was an easy start.

Get moved to a decent table at the break and have 7k. Moved again to Smurph's left and build nicely. Then for the second tournament in a row that we are on the same table I donate all my chips to Smurph when I RR all-in to her 3xBB raise. My AcKc is no good against her JJ.

Then I go over to ocallagh to chat about Sunday and he's all-in saying he wants to go home. I say 'Well if you win go all in again.' His A7 sucks out on AK. True to his word..next hand... he goes all-in....with AA :p he doubles up and I leave him to it.

Good turn out with some great players. Shame I couldnt win my race as I felt good.

    WP daithio...on a roll.

Didn't know that was you, yeah you seemed to go a bit card dead at the FT. It was a pity because the guy in seat two threw his chips away the next hand, so had you hung on a bit you probably would have gotten into deal territory 4 handed, but as it was we waited til three handed because we knew he'd go out 4th. (He ended up calling all in for over 100k after he'd made it 12k with K6 sooooted) I played like a loon at that table, enjoyed it though. Loved your suckout with A5, one of the best ones I saw all night!

yes wp sir, you were really running over the table at one stage - although it was most amusing when you called that extra 8k into a 90k pot and had to show J4o "the Canadian hammer". Your rocklike image was well and truly shattered!!

My exit hand is best not mentioned in polite society...I took my brain outside and gave it a good beating afterwards

Yeah it's a tough one, I know what the thought process was behind it. You kind of have to stick in a raise short handed with it, but then you're thinking if you raise can you get away from it if someone comes over the top, then something inside your head says 'just push, that way nobody can come over the top', and suddenly you're all in. Maybe a raise to 15k and then you could get away from it? I don't know really. If there were antes I think a push would be correct, but considering there wasn't that much in the middle, maybe a small raise that you can get away from; you'd been quiet enough at the final table, so a small raise should get rid of all the same hands that a push would, and if someone comes over the top at least you know you're well and truly beaten. I think your main problem was that you were totally card dead, and it was an aggro enough table. I had to have QQ twice and JJ to get my chips together, and could have been gone in 8th or so had Paddy hit his A against me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,679 ✭✭✭Daithio

Lol just debating that this morning. I really want to go, but I know even if I say to myself I'm not playing the ME I'll decide at the last minute I have to and that's a 5k hit. Dave C suggested only bringing over 2 or 3k, but where there's a will there's a way and I'd no doubt end up getting a lend off one of you high rollers ;) . Fuk it though, I think I'll go. If you go dont fool yourself into thinking you wont play the me.

Its sept 13-16 which is a pain in the ass for me as its midweek and is going to take some careful negotiating for me to get the time off.

I haven't played the scalps in a while but no it's not much higher really. There are a few decent players that only come out of the woodwork for this one that wouldn't play the scalps, but that's about the only difference. I do think that the standard of poker in Ireland is getting higher in general though, but it's still very beatable.

Ty Kinaldo. Delighted with the result. Played ok for most of the night but got very good cards as well. Won 4 big pots with jj and another big one when I beat jj with AK. Was never far off the chip lead from 3/4 tables out but didn't feel I bullied enough with the big stack. Playing with Daithio for a couple of hours towards the end of the tournie really focuses the mind when you know that one mistake will probably knock you out.
Once we made a deal that the last 3 would get 5K and play on for 3K things changed. I felt like the tournie was over and that it was almost like we were only playing for the title which is ridiculous when 3k is huge considering the stakes I play at.
Leonard who shared it with us played very well I thought.
Dave O C. of course was excellent and scares the sh**t out of me. Well played Sir!

Well done Daithio, thought you might take it down alright. Your stack was certainly moving up and down on the final table. I must say your j2 offsuit against me was very funny. I know that it did cry out to rob the pot when i stared up at the screen with the pay structure and announce that there is a big jump from 10th to 9th in prize money (€500 to €1,000) as there are 10 of us left and I am serious short stacked. Would i have been so brave to go all in with other cards besides KJ suited, we'll never know. Nice to meet El Stuntman, It was also nice that you woke up with QQ when I go all in UTG with 99 followed by you and then Paddy Hicks with 66. Good night though and making the money was excellent considering I was in serious danger of going out in the bubble.

Back in work today, after my 2 weeks so i am only catching up on the posts.
