Did anyone see the daily record yesterday? Its a Scottish paper but the Spar's do sell it. Head line was - BEWARE OF THE CULT! Tony Quinn moves his empire to Scotland.
It carries several pages warning Scots not to go near Quinn or his cronies and carries stories of poor unfortunates that got sucked in and ended up bankrupt or single.

My new past time now when Im in town is to go into as many Quinn 'health' booths and make nuisance of myself LOL, i stuck my head into the one in Jervis on Monday, I had my Taekwon-Do jacket on me. He has a carb drink for sale there, something like Viper even not as good as it, it was full of sh1t. I just had a quick look at it, there were 3 quinnites there believe or not having a conversation about how great the dear leader was and talking about how things are going so well thanks to Educo!

As I turned to leave they pounced on me! - 'Whoa man, hang on are a martial artist?'...'this stuff is straight up your street...' he went on to tell me that the product would make me 85% faster, and would make me jump 50% higher and would also help gain muscle  .. so i went to town on him and they all ganged up on me!

I had a fun time, and if anyone's around town and see's me in a TQ booth come over and give me hand - these people need outing !!

neh neh neh neh neh neh LEADER.....

Seriously, I've heard mentioned of this Tony Quinn a few times here in this forum. Is this the dude that has the health kiosk in Blanchardstown SC? I thought it was just another one of those weight loss places, but a lot of people use words like cult, phsyco, and nutjob, and I dont know why. Can someone enlighten me please as to the hidden agenda of this man that I cant see?

Archeron, TQ has a lot of "health" shops around. Blanch, stephens green, the square etc... The products they sell cost a fortune for what is essentiall coloured powder.
They are crap and have no use what so ever, unless your kids are doing art in school and need expensive paint colouring!

Coupled with this is his 3k (correct me if im wrong someone) health training camp in the bahamas where you go to apparently become more physical, mentally and spiritually aware! Bull$h!t.

i thought it was closer to 15/20K? Think there was another thread a while back where someone who had been to one of the camps posted about the realities of it. I'm still ashamed that when i was 16 i went in and got some protein tablets there :o ooh if only i knew then...

A good friend of mine signed up for a nutrition course, and is just back from some sort of workshop in france or somewhere. Mate seems really happy, should I be worried??

Actually I think you may be correct. Usually around now thought we normally get that post defending TQ from a new user on their first post only to never be heard from again.

This was my first gym - i joined when i was 16, actually one of the few gyms around compared to now, was a good place to train but they were always talking a bit of crap like do what the leader says(Tony). Gradually became worse and worse over the years, i left about 5 - 6 years ago and a ot of the better trainers had left too, but the crap talk got bigger and bigger and the trainers or anyone involved in the "business" would come up and persuade you to go to seminars etc(i went to one little one(for nothing!!), i was actually quite astounded at how fickle people are and i was ma mere college student, although i am very street smart)
The then fitness instructor(think his still there) approached me about going to the Bahamas on a 3 week seminar for 15k punts, i said i was in college, he said i could get a loan and that a few banks were recognising how influential these seminars were and i'd easily make back the money to pay off the loan after the seminar because it was life changing. I embarrassingly said no and in fairness he left it at that but wtf 15 g's - the man is insane.
Anyways i left a few months later and thank fcuk i did - their all a bit mad down there, i seen the instructor in the middle of the shower trying to persuade a bloke who was bollock naked to go on a seminar - funny, Mr.Quinn has such a grasp on some people. The instructor in question went to 3 seminars over a year (maybe longer) but he gets them for 10k because his staff. It must cost a lot more now though.

    rant over

Wow. I was never familiar with these stories, so I'm glad to hear about other peoples experiences. I have to admit, I did buy some sort of capsule thing from the Blanch shop years and years ago that were supposed to help weight loss, but they seemed pretty pointless.
These stories about a camp for 15k are disturbing!!
I'll certainly keep my wits about me if I come across these people again, though I have no need to, so hopefully I wont.

Yes, he's not your friend anymore.....or else he got laid by some hot chick.

    Ask him! :D

She said: "He has cured people of cancer and all sorts of things.
"There was a girl at one of his seminars and she had a lump under her arm She said her mum had died of it.
"Tony said, 'What lump?' He refused to acknowledge she had a lump under her arm and the next day it was gone."
Dr Livingstone also claimed that during one of his seminars, held in the Bahamas, Quinn popped out in the lunch break to "heal people".

What a legened, a modern day Jesus

How do people fall for this sh*t?

Eight years ago I was working for a bank and I can remember a customer looking for a loan of IR£2000 in order to attend one of these courses.

Yeah the rumours are true she hit it with me :D

On a side note due to my lack of reading newspapers or watching tv, wtf the story with this tony quinn guy? and how can i set up "training camps" in the bahamas?

Their latest seminar was in southern France, not about nutrition but about the educo philosophy. Don't be surprised if she tries to get you to go to the next one!

For a laugh, anyone who passes one of his kiosks should pop in to hear the crap they push on you, pure blatant Bo**cks, by warped brainwashed morons.

When I first started going to the gym, these were the only fitness stores I knew of, so I went and listened to his sales-assistants/admirers. The guy actually did give decent advice on diet and training, and recommended Cell-Tech (which I actually do like) - all well and good. Couple of months later I go back looking for a whey supplement (which they had previously sold), to be told that Tony's scientists have decided that whey is basically a placebo and doesn't actually work. He went on to recommend casein and aminos and not recommend Cell-Tech anymore (instead going for Tony's own creatine), the former 2 being Tony's own brand stuff, so I foolishly bought. The aminos are ****e and as for the casein, 2 months later my system was in shreds and I was diagnosed with IBS by my doc. I do detect the poor-quality of the casein I was sold had something to do with it, as I now can't go near any milk products - including whey and casein. And I'm almost sure that the guy also told me that Mr. Quinn himself had been Mr. Ireland, and was a competitor for Mr. Universe. I HAVEN'T GONE BACK SINCE!

they really are a bit of a jokeshop... the crap they try and sell you, the protein powder reminds me of the flour and water paste kids used to make.

poor people who work there, indoctrined clueless eijits. and to think, the amount of unknowing sods who go in looking for a bit of something to help them bulk up... it's sad really.

I think thats actually true - he was Mr.Ireland(maybe 2 times), this would of been at the beginning of the scene over here but i do remember seeing a pic of him and he was quite impressive apart from the chicken legs. Their routines are quite good and they do give good advice on nutrition, its just a pity about the sh*t products and brainwashing b****x

    http://www.esatclear.ie/~dialogueireland/a2z/tq/

Went out with a girl who went to a nutritional class once a week for 10 weeks and now thinks she has a degree in nutrition. I had never heard of him when she started. I say she has learnt how to sell TQ products. Later I found out half the day was nutrition and the other half was 'TQ philosophy' 'meditation'. Half way through it I realised she was brain washed.

Since breaking she has done a €60,000 seminar, has 'clients' and lives alone by choice. What ever makes her happy.

His kind of hypnotism is about ignoring negative toughts, conversations or people and leaves you only concentrating on the positive. This excersice takes away your ability to way up the pros and cons of any situation properly and hense takes away your free will.

And these people flogging the seminars are getting commision of up to €5000 on every person they bring to a seminar. So people who borrow to go on his seminars end up having to persuade family members and friends to go on them too so they can recoup their own loans by saying how amasing they are.

Next time you meet someone who has been on one of their seminars try ask them 'what did you do on the seminar' and i'll bet you they will tell you how brilliant and amazing it was, 'life changing'. Then say 'no what did you do?'

I'm sure people with strong minds who use his gym or purchase some of products would have no issues with his org but I would stay clear of his courses and seminars. Thats where he brings people in.

Since realising what the course was all about 2 years ago and I've been talking to people about it and I can only say I'm shocked about the amount of people I know of through family and friends who have been burned by their association with his organise. Found out a womon on our road left 3 kids and her husband to join his commune in North Dublin in the early 80's and only returned a few years ago to try and take their house. It went to court and the husband and kids won and she got nothing.

I could go on and on..... sorry for the rant but just want everyone to know he's a bleeden cowboy..... :)

That's two separate threads on TQ you've dragged up just to comment very negatively on. These are also your only two posts to date. Either you have some sort of serious issues with the man or there's something not quite right here...

Tony Quinn is somebody who we all know is pretty much a crook.

60,000 for a seminar?? Gaucho has seen the effect it has on somebody first hand. Maybe he just wants to warn other people and not have them get ripped off too.

As Rubadub said in another thread, the EducoGym's are something like 82.50 per hour to use.

What could be "not quite right" about it? Is it one of TQ's competitors trying to run him down perhaps?? If it is, then so what?? TQ has built his empire on aggressive sales tactics and mind manipultation, and well flat out lies.

If that's the attitude he employs in business then it is only natural to expect people who don't buy into his crap will stand up and make their voice heard.

I have no issue with either of the posts.

Tony Quinn uses extremely aggressive tactics when it comes to selling his products. I was simply pointing out that this will rub people up the wrong way, and they will react by either going after Tony Quinn, or trying to ensure no body else is robbed by him. As is the case here.

A similar situation occured recently with somebody being unhappy with Total Fitness and giving out about them here, and turning their friends away from taking up memberships there in place of another gym.

I honestly fail to see how anything I said warrants an infraction point. It's not fair to automatically assume that someone has ulterior motives when they speak out against somebody who has robbed them (or someone close to them) is it?

As I said before, if you have an issue with the moderating, take it to feedback. Continuing to take the thread off-topic may result in a ban.

    Thanks.

Sorry for dragging up an old posts but this one wasn't that old and I would have started my own one had I not found them.

I ain't a competitor but as Hanley said I have witnessed first hand the effects of an innocent nutrition course on someone which lead me to find out all about TQ.

I never tried to peruade her to stop doing the course and never tried to stop her going on a seminar cause that is what free will is. But if you take away someone ability to decide properly thats slavery.

There is very little information on the internet about TQ and none of the Documentaries are available to watch. I only found this forum last night so wanted to let fellow Irish know to be aware of how he works. Had I found it a year or so ago I would have been all over it. Instead I found Dialogue Ireland which at least confirmed that it wasn't me going mad.

I'm sure I do have issues with TQ tbh and anyone who experienced what I did would. I also have major issues with the health service, shall I start a new thread?

    Peace

    Peace

    No, you shall not.

This is fitness, if you feel like discussing the HSE then please take it to the relevant thread.

You have also been asked via PM to stop posting possibly liabalous material on the forum. I fail to see why you would make another post after being asked this? Continue with the posts about TQ in such a manner and i will have no choice but the bar you.

This issue is not up for discussion.

    Hanley,

we do not "pretty much know" that TQ is a crook. As far as i am aware he has never been convicted or even associated with any criminal activity so once again we will leave such comments by the wayside please.

TQ is, from my point of view as a consumer, a person who provides a poor product for a non competitive price aimed at a certain target market. Quite frankly, if that target market lacks the mental aptitude to spot a raw deal when they see it then perhaps they deserve to be parted from there money.

I have no problem with people offering opinion, but offering opinion as if it is fact we simply cannot allow, as this could result in boards ending up in an awkward legal position.

    End.
