Bodydoctor?

    Hello all,
First time posting on this forum, but after a mate had a quiet chat in my ear, I need to tone up, lose some weight and generally get fitter. The thing is, I'm saving for a deposit for a new gaff and I'm not really comfortable joining a gym at the moment in my present state. So with no cash and no mind to join a gym, I picked up a copy of the Bodydoctor's book today.

The claim seems pretty crazy from my (very) limited knowledge of fitness programs. "In 6 weeks take 5 inches off your waist, lose a stone, double your fitness."

I won't start it until I have read the book cover to cover, however I have started off with some of the recipes in the book (yum-had salmon steak with stir-fried veg in lemon tonight :)). And I have to buy weights and a swiss ball.

My question is, has anyone had experience with this program? If it does what it says, I'm surprised that it is not more popular. I can't find negative criticism on the web either.

    Cheers,
    Barry

    Hi Papa Smut,

I can't say I personally have any experience with the said program, however a stone in six weeks is easily acheivable especially, as seems to be in your case from your wording, for those you are considerably overweight.

Also, its worth reminding you - and as obvious as it sounds, it seems to go over the heads of some people - all you need to change yourself is to be able to consult your own common sense good diet, and exercise. Sure, these programs can help and give you ideas on the sort of lifestyle you should be aiming towards but at the end of the day, eat right, exercise well, use common sense and you'll literally be on the road to success with or without any one of these millions of fads and books. As an addition to the book you're currently reading, there are plenty of stickies at the top of this forum about diet, exercise and how to measure your daily requirements correctly which should be invaluable to you.

Also, there was alot of posts recently regarding exercising in the home as opposed to going to the gym or even outdoors, should you feel uncomfortable even at this stage exercising publicly. A quick search through the forum should easily reveal them.

Good luck, in any case. Making the choice to change and staying on the right track is genuinely the hardest part regardless of what people may think otherwise. :)

Been dieting for years, my weight keeps going up and down, however a stone is six weeks is very achievable. You should loose the weight first and concentrate only on that then do the toning. Sit ups on the swiss ball are great for removing fat off your stomach!Do repetitions of 20. (Was told to do this by gym instructor). Keep your plate small, your portions small, and i cant enfasis the importance of drinking loads of water. At least 2 litres a day.
    Good luck with it!
