Hey. Just wondering how much you are paying for your debs ticket this year. How much do you reckon you'll be spending altogether?

My debs was last Thursday night and I had a great time but christ it was some expensive night!!

    Tickets: €90 (me plus partner)
    Dress: €330
    Shoes: €180
Jewelary: €130 (got mammy to buy me a lovely bracelet :-p)
    Hair: €80 (coloured and styled)
Tan, eyebrows, nails and makeup: €80
    Photographs: €30
    Drinks: around €100

I think thats everything.... wow it cost €1020!!!

Tickets for our one are e100 each so it's looking like I'll be bringing a sixpack.

**** the limo - only down the road in Ballsbridge. I wouldn't be a big fan of that pompous crap tbh and I think drinking in Herbo beforehand and walking up is tradition anyway

Tuxwise, my dad got me one made to measure in Thailand a few months ago for absolute peanuts so that's that covered. Jewellery, hair, makeup

I should get off for under e250 I reckon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 478 ✭✭GretchenWieners

What??!! €1050?!?!? You should be shot!!!!

Tux rental (2nights, yes I'm going to another as well): €45 each night
Chocolates and flower thing-€60 max each night
    Drink: €75 for both nights.

    €225, I still think it's robbery!!!
Getting a lift in, screw the limo crap, I'll ask someone who has a nice car!! :D

Mine Debs is on 4th October.

    Suit - €40 - €50
Limo - not sure yet, a bit too expensive for my tastes
Ticket - €65 (€130 for two). My bf isn't sure if he can make it unfortunately :(
    Drink - Em, PRICEY!

And what's more, I don't even know where my Debs will be held! :D

bag - 59E (I've got my eye on one!)

Haha, I know its REALLY OTT for a pair of shoes! Got them in Brown Thomas and they're just fab! They're not like typical debs shoes and I'll def wear them going out into town so I'll get my moneys worth!

180 for shoes thats hardly OTT

mine was back in january, so i cant remember for sure

    dress - 250
    shoes/bag - 50
    jewellery - 30
    hair/makeup - 60
    ticket - 50 i think
just got a taxi which someone else paid for.. and most of my drinks were bought for me too.. but say, maybe
    drinks - 15

405 in total i suppose. the dress cost the most.. and even tho it wasnt that expensive, i resented payign that much for it (im usually a bargain bitch...)

oh wait, photos afterwards were about 70 i think, cos i got individual one, and the 3 classes aswell

It isn't OTT, it's gorram ridiculous! I can't think of any single thing, bar computer components, that I would spend 180 euro on. It's absolutely insane. The 4 pairs of shoes i own cost $60, €20, $10 and nothing. If I spent €180 on shoes, they'd sodding well have to let me walk on water.

    [/rant]

Different folks, different strokes i guess!

No, spending 180 euro on shoes is insane, unless you live in a house made of diamonds

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭eamoss

I cant remember how much I spent on my debs it was 8months ago

My shoes wer about €70 and im lad, thing is I havent worn them since  but its becasue I use other shoes when im headin out!!

Well I had two Debs' Last week, Me and my gf's both in the red cow.

    Suit: €250
    Shoes: €110
    2 Shirts: €80
    2 Ties to match gf's dresses: €80
    4 Tickets: €280
    Drinks (2 nights): About €150?
    Chocolates: €30
2 orchids and flowers for the mother: €60
    Mates Ferrari: Free!

Thats €1040 for me, and i'd say the gf spent more gettin 2 dresses made, shoes, jewellery, makeup, tan, eyebrows, legs etc.

Fúck me thats a lotta money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭JackKelly

In fairness, while I can't stand needless spending, 170E on a pair of shoes isn't all that ridiculous. Especially if they are quality shoes, and will be used for other occasions. It's when you hear people buying shoes for 500E etc that things get stupid. Or like i've seen in some shops, belts for 200E +.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

    Tickets: e90 (for the pair)
    Tux Hire: e65
    Limo: e75
    Haircut: e10
    Photos: e20
    Drink: e40

    Total: e300

Not too shabby, considering I saved on the orchid (girlfriend had a flower thing she wanted to wear instead) and the flowers and chocolates (girlfriend travelled a long distance to attended it).

Btw, were there awards at ur debs? My gf won Belle of the Ball - and she wasnt even in our class - only a guest! Surely thats not right, but I wasnt complaining... :D

    40e hair
    15e make-up
    5e TAXI (limo....er....no)

    So in total : 370e

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,999 ✭✭✭68 lost souls

Tickets - Free (The joy of being a prefect, we got them down to 45 each for the others)
Tucks - Free (already have one from a ball last year, was free then too cause it was my bros and got it tailored by a relation for free to fit me)

Then don't wear one. Everyone will only think you're a prat! ;)

There's nothing wrong with them anyway, any awkward feelings you have will go as soon as you see everyone else in them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 887 ✭✭✭Rockerette

Nah you dont have to wear a tux, loads of people just wear shirt/normal tie/jacket

well, tehy did for mine anyway

I estimate everything will come close to €900 or so for the night. Jaysus.

Bleugh... I'm paying the bf's ticket for mine, should be about 80 each. No idea about dress yet, I trust in myself to find cheapish shoes and do my own make up....hair and nails, god knows.

Went to a ball last year though, spent €15 on the dress....go super sales! and robbed shoes/shawl etc from other people, got the ticket free. neyehhe

I've to pay a €70 deposit for my grads tickets, but I dunno how much they'll cost in total. I have a tux but I'll probably hire a classier one for the craic. Is hiring a helicopter a bit extravagant? ;) I'll do it if I'm dared (and payed!)

Friends dad mentioned getting us a limo, he's in the ol' car business so that'd be pretty cool. I'm a bit freaked at the mo tbh, might have 2 debs and a youth awards ball this year...dunno how I'm going to afford it if I don't wanna wear last year's dress!

Christ you sound like great fun.

Went to three this year, spent a fortune but tbh money comes and goes. Worked hard for the money so im damn well gonna have a good time spending it. A great bank balance doesnt compare with good times and good memories tbh!

I'm sure it does if you're going to college somewhere far away, I'm hoping to go to LIT and if I have to come home for my debs and then pay for a load of stuff, where's my rent and my food money coming from?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,195 ✭✭✭Corruptedmorals

Don't know yet, but I went to this years one, because I did TY and we were entitled to.

Tickets: 70 each, I just paid for mine
    Dress: 33. Internet FTW.
    Shoes: 40. Schuh sale!
    Make-up: About 50
    Bag: 50. But it's STUNNING.
Hair and actual make-up application- FREE. Yay for my sister!
    Drink: 60
Formal photos: 12.50..split cost of 25. And I got 3. Good value...

Was a great night, this years debs won't be in the same place thanks to legal issues (knacker went mad and attacked people: broken bottle and such) so tickets might be more expensive, I'll probably splash out a bit more on my dress too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,878 ✭✭✭Rozabeez

tbh, with the debs committee we have..who knows what we'll end up with!
